Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Feb 18, 2006 Dull flat brown colour. Fairly malty aroma with a decent brandy character. Thick malty body with light boozey notes and a hint of chocolate. Big, but not overly complex and the flavour combination is not particularly compelling. stoutlover72 (1325), NorCal, California, USA Feb 15, 2006 This is a simply amazing, out-of-this-world barley wine that is done to perfection!! With a ABV of 13%, it’s mind blowing to think that you cannot taste it whatsoever. Aroma of toffee, nuts, some brandy and vanilla. Flavor profile is the same with a creaminess that is just perfect. omhper (10456), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 14, 2006 Bottled. Clear ruby, no head. Raisiny madeira aroma. Sweet and full bodied with clean mouthfeel. Very malty with notes of berries and wood. Surprisingly low bitterness. KrausenJockey (117), Stockton, California, USA Feb 10, 2006 Barrel Aged on Nitro Draft at Valley Brewing Company, Guest beer. Pours a deep dark delicious black with a beautiful creamy tan head, nitro-liscious. Deep aromas of wood and malt with swirls of alcohol. The barrel characteristics leap out at you and then slowly fade. The flavors of sherry and wood meld with the wonderful balance of hops, wood and alcohol. A true masterpiece aspidites (1268), manteca, California, USA Jan 20, 2006 Amazing that such a massive abv can be hidden so well. The alcohol must be hiding somewhere else because this beer is so delicate yet complex and full of wonderful depth that all of that abv just has to be behind the door or under the carpet. Velvety soft nose with hints of brandy, cream, apple, molasses, oloroso, vanilla, toffee, almonds and Tyra Banks, well maybe not the last one but I can always hope. Extremely complex, soft and inviting mouthfeel that begs your attention sip after glorious sip. The finish is sheer joy and smile inducing goodness.
