Enticing deep roast aroma with a natural smokiness. Nice smoky peppery flavor. Would love to brew something like this for summer grill-outs. Perfectly balanced. Watery compared to many porters. The bit of smokiness was the main redeeming feature of this beer. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 28, 2005 This was my favorite of the three I tried at the brewery today. Very dark but not a lot of head. Aromas were a bit lacking, but the flavor was better. A little chocolate, but mostly just smoky malts. Pretty good. BrewDad (2393), Olympia, Washington, USA

I am not looking for a true German Smoked beer that will take off your socks but I need a beer that has a stronger bite. The head was small and the flavor was just off.
