Commercial Description:
100% Ambrosia. This dessert wine displays all the unique characters of the Ambrosia apple. Luscious honeyed pear aromas are followed by rich tropical flavours and a surprisingly fresh finish.

[995-20071223] 375mL (w/ GregClow, jerc; Vintage 2006). Mildly tart apple and pear aroma. Clear, orange amber body has no head. Sweet mango apple flavour has a mildly acidic pineapple finish. Sweet medium body. Enjoyable.

Bottle shared with jerc & mabel - their bottle. 2006 vintage. Deep golden with a reddish tinge. Aroma of slightly browned spiced apples, with back notes of pear and honey. Flavour of sweet apple and pear to start, with apple skin notes in the middle, and a surprisingly tart/acidic finish. The booze comes through a bit heavy in the finish as well. Enjoyable in small doses.

2006 Vintage. Bottle from the cidery. Golden yellow body coats the glass just a bit. (3+) Sweet boozy aroma of fresh apples and baked apples, hints of pears. (7+) Tart and tanniny apples lead into the flavour, and notes of apple skins over a sweet foundation. Surpriingly acidic finish is both refreshing and jarring at the same time. Something in the flavour I cannot place that detracts from the overall impression. (7+) Thick medium to full bodied palate is on the syrupy side and sits heavily on the tongue. (3+) A large sample is a struggle to finish, a large bottle is definitely something you need to share or spread over a long period of time. Very nice, but not... something. 7/3/7/3+/16

(375ml bottle) Purchased at Spinnakers Spirits Merchant in Vic West for $38. Pours a deep golden with reddish hues. Appears to be sugar sediment at the bottom? Nose of spiced apple, iodine and honey. Very potent alcohol aroma. Flavour is incredibly sweet and robust, good alcohol through the mid-palate and a lasting bitter syrup elixir to the finish. Very enjoyable!

Golden, still. The aroma is of lightly spiced apple crisp. Rich, spicy, luxurious flavours...apples and wood and brown sugar, with late alcohol to dry out the finish just slightly. So rich, as it should be.
