hwwty4 (6), Kansas City, Missouri, USA does not count Sep 28, 2007 I was very supised at the amount of hoppiness in this pilsner. It was very refreshing mkobes (2039), somewhere, New Jersey, USA Jun 16, 2007 Bottle. Shared with Eyedrinkale. Sweet aroma. Malty sweet flavor. Light hoppy taste. Crisp and refreshing. Finish is hoppy. Medium bodied. Not bad. Eyedrinkale (3111), Beer Town, New York, USA Jun 16, 2007 Bottle, courtesy of Marys moms fridge. Swilled right from the bottle, so appearance isnt an issue. Taste is lightly sweet with a fine malt flavor. Crispy hops balance it out nicely Theres a touch of fruit, like grape thats a bit weird but not a bad brew at all. SpudClampDawg (949), Jasper, Indiana, USA Apr 26, 2008 12oz bottle: I met Ray Hills today at a beer tasting in St. Louis. Very nice guy with an interesting story from homebrewing in his kitchen to contract brewing through AB. Through the years he contract brewed with smaller breweries and nailed down a contract with the big dog last year. He seems to be a true beer lover, so hopefully we see more of his recipes make it to the shelves. He says he is planning an amber ale with pecans and a touch of chocolate malt as his next contract brew. On to the pre-prohibition lager - pours a honeyed orange with a skimpy head. The nose is light and buttery, with a touch of caramel and grass. The body is smooth for the style, offering sweet honey, caramel and classic corn. Finishes mildly bitter with a touch of grassy resin. Honestly, for a pale lager this is pretty nice. If it didn’t have AB’s name attached it would rate much higher here. heemer77 (3782), Savannah, Missouri, USA Mar 30, 2007 From a bottle purchased at Lukas Liquors in KC. The beer pours with a medium gold body and a quickly dissapating head. The aroma is sweet potatoes and carrots. There is also a hint of black pepper. The taste is strong parsnips along with a little bit of black pepper spice in the finish. The body is smooth and light.
