Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
First brewed to celebrate the 500th guest beer at the Dartmouth Inn, Newton Abbot, and was named by a customer in a competition. It went down so well that it has become a regular beer. This enigmatic full bodied beer with malty hoppy fruit bitter with a sweet taste which all vie for dominance in this complex and well crafted premium chestnut coloured ale

Cask (Kitty’s, Helsinki)
Orangy brown, huge fluffy persistent head. Huge hoppy bitter aroma, crisp and a little gingery, but with a powerful darker bitterness. Slightly creamy, but a little thin in the mouth, but in a refreshing way. Right at the instant of the first sip there is a slightly appley taste, but a large wave of solid English noble hops kicks in very quickly, and that’s what leaves a really tasty finish. Some damp sheep and saccharin later on, but that’s moderated. Solid bitter - a classic. No ’wow’, but just so solid. 4th day of the barrel, and with only 2L left according to the barman.

Cask in the standing order. Best beer of the day for me and from a wetherspoons over all the other hot spots in Edinburgh? Aroma is rich malts, spicey peppery malts, orange peel comes in later. Taste is similar, though chcolate malt is key too, though not over powering at all. Good esb.

Handpulled cask at JDW Hatch End Harrow. Mid brown with white smooth head. Initially sweet and malty but a gentle hoppiness soon takes over. Rather nice.

Bottle @ Aarhus, 2008.
Pours deep redish amber with a pretty nice, creamy, off-white head. Aroma is a bit of cellar, caramel, toffee and subdued hops - some buttery notes as well. Okay, frothy mouthfeel. Flavour is a bit sweet, okay caramel, buttery and soft. A bit boring, but okay.

500ml bottle.Bright copper coloured with a fast dissipating white head; fruity malt aroma; oily, malty mouth feel, with stewed fruit flavours, and a well-balanced bitterness, long apricot finish with a touch of acidity. A nicely constructed bitter.
