Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
First brewed to celebrate the 500th guest beer at the Dartmouth Inn, Newton Abbot, and was named by a customer in a competition. It went down so well that it has become a regular beer. This enigmatic full bodied beer with malty hoppy fruit bitter with a sweet taste which all vie for dominance in this complex and well crafted premium chestnut coloured ale

0,5 l bottle from Centra. Full tasting biter, lots of malt, nice flowery finish. A decent bottled bitter, get it if you can.

500 ml bottle. A low coarse near-white head quickly fading to a ring of foam. Reddish-brown colored body. Light sweet caramellish malt aroma with some pleasant whiffs of dark fruits, tobacco and wood. Taste is nice a blend of sweetish malts, noble bittering hops and dark dried fruits. Good body. Hoppy finish. A balanced and tasty Bitter.

Not a typical ESB. I found some burn notes in both the aroma and flavor. Not unpleasant but... It also has some straw and bread in the aroma, did not get much from the hops. The flavor is fruity. But it has a metal note in the end.

Sampled at the Medway Beer Festival 2007 - A thick, creamy, malty number with a nasty little aftertaste. Reminded me of something shit like Worthingtons A little bit fleshy.

Bottled. An amber beer with a thick light orange beer. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel, leading to a slightly bitter finish. The mouthfeel is very smooth.

500ml bottle @ Cardinal. Golden red/brown body with an off-white head. Aroma of slightly roasted malt, caramel, hops. Flavor is sweetish malt, lots of malt, some fruit and a fine well balanced bitterness. Medium bodied and a well balanced bitter.

Small offwhite coarse head quickly disappears. Deep chestnut brown body. Sugary caramel and dried fruit notes aroma, very strong, with chocolate and orange notes. Lots of aroma, but there’s something about the orange/chocolate mix that doesn’t appeal to me. Sweet, complex taste of port, dried fruit, caramel, and roasty malts. Dry chocolatey, smoky aftertaste with tobaccoish notes. Taste is also powerful, and sharpish, but nice. A good beer, and a bit different. (0.5l bottle at Cardinal, Stavanger.)

Grudgingly dispensed by the man who wrote the recipe, The Old Inn, Halwell, Devon. Chesnut pint with a well-rounded malt-hop balance and plenty of biscuity/caramel afters. Possibly not the greatest beer I’ve ever tasted.
