Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
As both Paul and Graham are rail enthusiasts the beer is named after the firebox in a steam engine. A reddish deep brown coloured beer which is a deceptively drinkable strong bitter with a fine combination of citrus hops and cherry fruit bittersweet flavours which gives a strong dry bitter finish.
Pale malt, chocolate malt; Progress and Target hops.

Bottle @ Aarhus, 2008.
Pours deep muddy brown with a fine, creamy, off-white head. Aroma is nutty, yeast and caramel. Fine mouthfeel. Flavour is nicely balanced, lightly nutty and fine caramel. Tastes more like a brown ale than a ESA...

Voilently carbonated this one, but it was served at room temp. Aroma of browning red apple with some lemon, melon flesh. I liked it actually. Yeasty slightly medicinal. The mouthfeel is good, toffee sugars leftover. dry finish. I can see how this has split opinions but I think it’s alright. I wont rush to the shop to get more though.
