Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
As both Paul and Graham are rail enthusiasts the beer is named after the firebox in a steam engine. A reddish deep brown coloured beer which is a deceptively drinkable strong bitter with a fine combination of citrus hops and cherry fruit bittersweet flavours which gives a strong dry bitter finish.
Pale malt, chocolate malt; Progress and Target hops.

Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. Tawny colour. Aroma = subtle, i.e. I cant smell it! Slight dishwater; sweet, casual malt, blended with a liquid but slight hop. Nor really sure I appreciate this one.

BCA (from Bitter Virtue, BBE Mar 07). Light appearance. Spicy peppery hops, alcohol, straightforward malt and light fennely/liquorice aromas. Sweet toasty malts leading to a tasty bitter finish. Adding the yeast at the end gave the beer a pleasant fruity rounded feel.
