Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
As both Paul and Graham are rail enthusiasts the beer is named after the firebox in a steam engine. A reddish deep brown coloured beer which is a deceptively drinkable strong bitter with a fine combination of citrus hops and cherry fruit bittersweet flavours which gives a strong dry bitter finish.
Pale malt, chocolate malt; Progress and Target hops.

Light honey brown with steady white head (lots of bubbles). Mild floral hoppy nose. Starts hoppied and crisp, but mouthfeel turns to quite sweet. Interesting Brit but not so good.

(Cask conditioned) Slightly hazy amber color with a medium big-bubbled head. Mild, aromatic and flowery, slightly sweet, hoppy aroma. Sweet, hoppy and malty flavor. Quite sweet, malty Medium-bodied, syrupy, sugary palate with low carbonation.

Bottled. Foggy amber colour with a large, smooth, rich, head. Lovely smooth beer with a strong bitter finish. Nicely transitions to a good strong bitter finish.

Thanks to Martin from England for this one. It poured a small sized off-white head that contained fine-medium bubbles that mostly dissipated. The body was carbonated and cloudy with an amber hue. The nose was malty and mildly hoppy with a light bitter flavor at the start, but it became more bitter tasting as it warmed. The mouthfeel was slightly tingly, bitter, and smooth. This was a light-medium bodied beer with excellent lacing.

This brew came from my friend Martin in Englan. Thanks ever so much Martin! It poured a very funny head. THe bubbles were medium sized on the left half and finely sized on the right! Weird. They were white colored and mostly lasting. As they receeded, they left an excellent sheet of lace behind. The body was brown colored, slightly hazy with a few white colored floaties and was almost uncarbonated. It had a mild bitter malt nose and a very smooth initial mouthfeel, chewey in the middle, and a very nice very bitter finish. The flavor was mildly hopped and malty with a mild bitter taste. It it just a nice all around brew.

Cask Conditioned at The Falkland Arms, GtTew, Oxon. Brown to pink beer with pale head. Biscuity, malty beer, lots of cereal, possibly a wheat note. Sharp bitterness then comes through. Interesting.

We live in a global society. This is an odd marriage of a Belgium Blonde and a British Bitter. Neither survives the relationship for long. Lawyers are already drawing up divorce papers by the end.
