Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
As both Paul and Graham are rail enthusiasts the beer is named after the firebox in a steam engine. A reddish deep brown coloured beer which is a deceptively drinkable strong bitter with a fine combination of citrus hops and cherry fruit bittersweet flavours which gives a strong dry bitter finish.
Pale malt, chocolate malt; Progress and Target hops.

Bottle. Darkish amber coloured with a slim white head. Fruity hoppy aroma. Nice fruity flavour, with some strong malts; noticable alcohol in the finish along side some nice hoppy bitterness. Full bodied. Very good.

A cloudy, light red beer. There are biscuit malts for starters with a bitter burnt toffee finish. Great stuff!

Typcial english ale appearance with a hopeed fruity aroma. The flavour is typically that of an english bitter. Overall a very good smooth flowing beer to drink.

Thanks to Martin from England for this one. It poured a small sized off-white head that contained fine-medium bubbles that mostly dissipated. The body was carbonated and cloudy with an amber hue. The nose was malty and mildly hoppy with a light bitter flavor at the start, but it became more bitter tasting as it warmed. The mouthfeel was slightly tingly, bitter, and smooth. This was a light-medium bodied beer with excellent lacing.

Bottled. Lovely hoppy aroma, when warming up more fruitiness comes in the aroma. Dark amber color, beige head, very nice lace. Nice sweet malts, hint of caramel, very hoppy, herbal, light bitter start and strong bitter in the finish. Maybe a bit too harsh the bitterness in the very finish.

Cask gravity at Ashford Rugby Club BF 2008. Slight hazy copper, lasting beige head. Pretty good strong beer, some nice fruit. Dangerously drinkable, nie syrupy fruit. Cracking condition. Alcohol isn’t obvious, gives the beer fullness. Pretty good, some hop dryness on finish. Really good.
