Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
In the old brewery we had a problem with slugs getting into the brewery. As the beer leaves a trail down the glass as you drink it like a slug, that's how the beer was named. A delicious traditional porter with a full bodied taste of chocolate, coffee, blackcurrant and black cherry with a good aroma. A near black colour with a good white head when served through a tight sparkler.
Pale malt, crystal malt, black malt; Fuggles and Goldings hops.

500. Pours deep, deep black with the faintest of red highlights at the thinnest part of the glass. Thick, sudsy, moussy tan head that leaves thick ropy webs of lace. Big chocolatey nose with a bit of chalky dryness there as well. Nice creamy medium body with light, soft carb. Chocolate starts on the attack, rolls through the mid-palate, joined by some roast and coffee. Kinda ashy on the finish. Not too bad.

Pours a deep brown bordering on black with a large creamy light tan head and spilled all over the table as my server poured it…oh well. Still left nice lacing and she didn’t spill all that much. Aroma of rich roasted malts, light smoke, some nuts, chocolate, hints of coffee. Flavor of light smoke, dark chocolate, some coffee, mixed nuts, touches of bitterness balanced nicely with the nice roasted malts. Went great with the chocolate crème brulee I got for dessert. Well done porter for sure!

Bottle conditioned pint. Pours a translucent dark brown with a good tan head. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Aroma of yeast, chocolate and roast. Molasses and coffee taste, and the hops show put in a n appearance for the finish.

500 ml bottle. Almost black body with a beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee and chocolate with a little hint of liquorices, very nice. Flavor is surprisingly mild, roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Really nice sample of a well composed beer at only 4,5% ABV.

bottle, bought at Tucker’s Maltings in Newton Abbot. Blackcolour, lovelly aroma of coffee and chocolate. Full-bodied, lovelly flavours of chocolate, toffee, coffee, roasted malt. Wel-rounded by hops and a pleasant fruitiness.

Bottle. Pours a deep dark brown with a thick dark head. Very thin mouthfeel. Aroma of roasted chestnuts, sugar, and coffee. Maybe burnt cinnamon. Taste is stale coffee and sourness like someone left the coffee filter in the coffee pot for a week.

Very impressive malty first taste. BLACK, with a very slight tan head that sits on top. Smells sweet, but finishes very clean. Definitely a must-try.
