Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
In the old brewery we had a problem with slugs getting into the brewery. As the beer leaves a trail down the glass as you drink it like a slug, that's how the beer was named. A delicious traditional porter with a full bodied taste of chocolate, coffee, blackcurrant and black cherry with a good aroma. A near black colour with a good white head when served through a tight sparkler.
Pale malt, crystal malt, black malt; Fuggles and Goldings hops.

Bottle. Pours dark brown, almost black, similar to molasses, with a small frothy tan head that diminishes to a patchy film. Aroma is rich and fragrant dark chocolate, roasted coffee and a perfume floral hop with dark fruits (prune, raisin, plum) and trace port notes. Dark bitter and tart chocolate, fruity and hoppy acidity, finishes clean and malty. Dark bodied and fizzy.

A dark, chocolatey brown-red beer with a weak white head. A light toasty nose with hints of malt and hops. Sweet caramel and a slightly toffee finish. The taste is dry, bitter with the toasted malt element again and caramel, toffee sweetness. The finish is dry and bitter sweet. (Draught - @ the Norwich Beer Festival 2004).

Pours jet black with a light tan head, very pleasing to look at. Nice mild body with a very satisfying flavor. A distinct nuttiness and a crisp dry finish complement tastes of chocolate, coffee, and dark fruits. Overall, a fantastic porter.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy dark reddish-brown with a large lasting foamy light-brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, fruit, chocolate, nuts and a touch of coffee. Flavour of roasted malt, mild chocolate, some wood and a light bitter dry finish. Body’s a little thin. Pretty good, I enjoyed it.

Cask at Banker’s, JDW, Bedford. Very dark brown with a lasting beige head. Malty aroma with some fruits. The taste also has some background fruit, but the dominant features are coffee and dark chocolate with a good bitter finish. Delicious, satisfying porter.

Pours a dark orangish brown color. Aromas of bread, chocolate, and a hint of coffee. Flavor is kind of weak for a porter. Touch of caramel and chocolate in the flavor.
