Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
In the old brewery we had a problem with slugs getting into the brewery. As the beer leaves a trail down the glass as you drink it like a slug, that's how the beer was named. A delicious traditional porter with a full bodied taste of chocolate, coffee, blackcurrant and black cherry with a good aroma. A near black colour with a good white head when served through a tight sparkler.
Pale malt, crystal malt, black malt; Fuggles and Goldings hops.

Bottle conditioned. Dark with a roasted wood like flavour.A full body made for a very pleasant porter.

Aroma of stale ale baking in the sun. Deep black with a two finger thick mocha head. muted flavors of roasted malt with some even more muted chocolate and coffe. There is a pervasive thinness that gives this a very pale ale mouthfeel. Combined with flavor that almost, but doesn’t quite come out and you have a better than average Porter, but not a first rate, porter.

Pours dark with ruby edges and a very intense head. A bit carbonated and thin. Roast and hops in the body, and an unsatisfactory finish. Simplistic, but drinkable.

Cask @ GBBF 2005: Black/brown coloured. Brown head. Is sweet and fruity. Has some chocolatish and coffeish notes. Quite malty and light roasted. Ends on a sweet note. A bit vague in the flavours.

Basic sweet offering. Some chocolate malt aromas lead to a slightly thin mildly roasty chocolate body. OK but not great.

Poured a huge impregnable fortresss of bubbles that verrrrry slowly settled ... after 5 minutes it was still 50% tan foam (like a root beer float) over a black-brown thin liquid. There’s an interesting ashy-smoky aroma. Smooth flavors of medium smoke, roasty malt. Classic porter.

Bottle. Brown in colour. Aroma was of chocolate, some roasted malt and a bit of maple. The flavour was of light chocolate, cold coffee, slightly sweet. The body was on the thin side, medium carbonation. The finishes tails of very quick. Not bad, not great. Rating #900.

VERY dark, not quite black in colour, with a good bead, off white head is thin but lasts well. Rich malty,stout-like nose is typical I suppose. Palate is smooth & richly flavoured, packed with roasted malt and a hint of hops, the finish just goes on & on & on & on...etc,etc. This is fantastic stuff, and was a gift from a secretive customer, so I don’t know where it was bought.
