Seriously.
I can't say enough about the head on the this beer.
It started out huge then settled into an almost merinque-like cream.
Big, rich mouthfeel that smacked of chocolate and caramel and a final tartness that reminded me of Guiness or over-use of black patent malt.
This is my new all-time favorite porter.

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 22, 2004 Updated: Jul 24, 2004Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately yeasty (dough, sweat), moderately malty (caramel, chocolate), lightly hoppy (flowers, apricot). Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Strong and unpleasant doughy raw yeast aroma kind of kills the nose...but then, there's not much going on there anyway, so no huge loss. Rather watery. Sourness makes this porter rather unpleasant. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 8, 2004 Very dark brown with a big tan head. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate and possibly some wine. Flavor of coffee and some chocolate. A little over carbonated and thin. Has a long dry finish. firemedic713 (169), Palm Bay, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 5, 2004 Chocolatey, toffee aroma. Extra-large head, foam that does not dissipate easily! Very dark ruby-brown colored. Dry, roasty, chocolatey malts dominate the flavor, with a nice burnt/hoppy, sharp, dry finish. DanielBrown (1919), Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, England
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 2, 2004 Bottle from The Offie, Leicester. Rather subtle aroma, with a medium lasting frothy, beige head, which leaves chunky lacing. Gentle introduction - smooth, then a crusty, bitter ending. Thinnish crispy mouthfeel. This has alight feel to it, but is tasty with enough interest throughout the gulp, and a nice lingering dryness. Mungo (2474), Southampton, Hampshire, England
