Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
In the old brewery we had a problem with slugs getting into the brewery. As the beer leaves a trail down the glass as you drink it like a slug, that's how the beer was named. A delicious traditional porter with a full bodied taste of chocolate, coffee, blackcurrant and black cherry with a good aroma. A near black colour with a good white head when served through a tight sparkler.
Pale malt, crystal malt, black malt; Fuggles and Goldings hops.

Bottle. Nearly black with a ruby tint. Aroma of light hops, some coffee and chocolate. Creamy body with soft carbonation. Rich flavor, chewy toffee. Finishes a little fruity and sweet, but not sticky. This is a tasty porter.

Bottle conditioned. Nice aroma of baking chocolate, hints of red and black fruits. The flavor is quite nice, very much old-fashioned-English and not fancied-up new world style. Supremely sessionable.

Black with no head. Smell of chocolate malt, some roast, not strong. Some vine too. Taste slightly bitter chocolate, nuts with some chewy wood flavour. No coffee that I can tell but well balanced. Not very distinctive, and a little thin. Finishes dry and tasty. A decent porter.

Bottle: Deep amber coloured with ruby sparks, presumably hazy, extremely firm and persistent tanned head, lively carbonation; roasted malt, honey and dried fruits in the nose; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, soft MF, light to medium bodied; some hidden sweetness and hoppiness in the mainly dry roasty and bitter-chocolatey finish. What a delicious stuff.........

Bottle. Very little head, dark pour. Chocolate aroma but not much else. Medium-thin mouth feel with average carbonation. Coffee flavor with a touch of chocolate. Not super flavorful, but pleasant. Over, a nice, though not inspiring beer. Good session porter.

Murky dark brown, almost black with almost no head, just some bubble around the rim of the glass. Aroma of chocolate, molasses and roasted malt. Flavor is some chocolate, sweet roasted malt, and a little dark fruit but kind of weak overall. Mouth feel is pretty thin and watery with no carbonation to speak of.
