Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned as On The Tiles.
The first beer brewed on the new site with the new plant. The name comes from Paul Davey M.D. and Graham Dunbavan Brewer and the Steam as we now had a steam boiler to heat the copper. This complex multi layered ale has a floral hop aroma with medium bodied hop, bitter taste with some fruit and sweetness.

Cask at the New Inn, Gloucester, 02-09-06. Amber coloured, with some fruitiness though not in the same league on that front as the Battledown Brigand tried in the same pub. Quite bitter and whilst perfectly fine no great shakes.

Cask/GBBF06 staff bar: copper/brown, deep citric flavour with outstanding bittering hops which last and last in the mouth long after I finished the beer. Easily the best British ale I sampled at the GB. I thought it was outstanding.

Cask at Max’s in Baltimore. Persistent foamy white head and clear body with mild visible carbonation. Aroma of popcorn butter, butterscotch, and light toast. A light, buttery beer with some soft, fruity notes, woodsy hop flavor and firm bitterness. A less than fresh cask may have produced the abundant diacetyl that I’m detecting here. May be better fresher, but as is this is less than stellar.

(cask) Rocky off-white head that leaves beautiful lacing atop a hazy amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, orange peel, lemongrass, some floral, light caramel. Taste is same as aroma. Watery light-medium body. Nice session beer.

Bottle. Cloudy brown beer with a strong head. The aroma is fairly dry with a toffee finish and the flavour is refreshing, slightly watery but with a long bitter and toffee/caramel finish. Overall an average beer, nice though.

Bottle conditioned as ’On the Tiles’, 500ml. Orange amber beer with slight head. Thin dull flavour, little richness to the body nor finishing notes, just a basic pale ale really. Sharp acidity on the tongue.
