Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Gold with a small white head. Faint floral hop aroma, later developing some sweet pinapple notes. Citric taste with a crisp and lingering bitter finish. One of the better goldens this year. 8.1.09 Cask at ’Spoons, Milton Keynes. Gold with a white head. Pear drop aroma. bread and sweet fruit in the taste, though hops dominate. Interesting. Bottle from Wine & Cheese Place in (near) St. Louis, MO. Orangish amber color with a multifinger off-white head. Aroma of light stone fruit - some peach - and a little caramel. Medium body with biting, creamy carbonation. Flavor does seem peachy with light bready malt backing. Finishes nicely bitter. Something like a fruity ESB trying to morph into something more bitter. Really good flavor. Finishes fairly dry.

Bottle: Seemed a little bit infected or oxidized. Hazy orange/golden pour topped by an off-white film. The aroma is off- sulfur-y, mineral-y, and some odd flowery notes. Not very inviting. The palate is rounded with pleasant carbonation. The flavor has better character than the aroma with a light cracker-like malt base, followed by earthy mineral flavor, subtle dusty orange and a flowery British hop finish with good dryness. Decent, the aroma ruins it for me, unfortunately.

Pours gold into an English pint. Bright white micro head tophats the rim. Leaving sheet lacing as it slowly recedes. Grapefruit and lemon zest aromas. Crisp and full malts upfront turning creamy summer fruits before the dry, lasting grapefruit finish. IPA-like.

(Cask at St. Urho’s Pub on 2008-08-22) Pale yellowish orange. Hazy. Long-lasting dense white head with undulating surface. Yeasty and fruity aromas in light nose. Medium-bodied, dry and fresh palate. Mainly bitter taste with some fruity and sweet flavours. Too one-dimensional,

Bottle (in NZ), pours a cloudy gold with a pure white foamy head. A floral aroma, but slightly skunkish. I’m not sure if this has travelled well. An earthy malt palate, but there is an unusual spicyness, along with citrus hop flavour. A decent level of bitterness.

Taste 8/8/08 Bottle(date?) Looks: Sediment heavy, cloudy gold. Very thick lacing head, that made some unusual adjustments over time. Aroma: Sour yeast, malty sweet and some floral. Taste: Even bitter. Some lemon iced tea. A decent beer.
