Jan 26, 2009 Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Clear nut brown, small head. Fruity toffeeish nose with evident alcohol. Sweet and near full bodied. Hone and jam are prominent and there is lots of carmamel while hops are fairly restrained. Finishes with more warming alcohol than bitterness.

Mar 3, 2009 Cask@Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Amber colour, small beige head, leaving nice lace. Aroma is sweet malts, caramel, fruits and nectar. Flavour is caramel malts, nectar, mild alcohol and grass. Also some sugary and a bit fruity notes. Very good real ale. Had on Feb 26th, and back at Oliver Twist on Mar 1st to have a few US beers. Afterwards I ended up with a few more pints of this. Just lovely!

Mar 2, 2009 Cask Conditioned at Oliver Twist, Stockholm
Hazy dark amber color with red hue, small head. A mild, shy Barley Wine (?), with sweetish caramel, ordinary bitterness, soft mouthfeel, but also a light, suspicious sourness in the end; probably the beer is not fresh; some alcohol feeling too. I’m not impressed.

Ruby red color, small beige head. Wood and molasses in the nose. Portwineous flavor and palate. Wood, berries... short finish. Not really a barley wine, more like an old ale.

Feb 5, 2007 Cask gravity at White Cliffs BF 2007. Pale chestnut colour with thin beige head. Malty aroma, fine. Some good hop on end. Very good barley wine, bit of ginger spice. Sweet. Nice barley wine but could do better. Some tangerine in there as well.

Dec 18, 2007 Pint in a milk carton from the 3 judges from ronnie. Aroma is A malty beast, quite swet, honey, cornish notes, no hop character at all, but quite mellow for a barley wine. Taste is similar and relitivly balanced though thers no sign of hops, but a bit thin for a barley wine, making for dangerous drinking. Id no doubt do pints of this in a session though.

Feb 26, 2004 Tawny colour. The alcohol is vaguely noticeable in the aroma, but otherwise is unobtrusive. Nothing else very distinctive comes through on the nose, although there is a little crystallised orange. Some candied fruit character on the palate, but, overall, I found this beer cloyingly sweet. Apart from the sugar and the alcohol, there is nothing much here and certainly not a lot of complexity. Slightly disappointing. Handpump, Head of Steam, Euston, London NW1.

Dec 30, 2004 Cask conditioned - handpump - Out Of The Vaults Leicester. A mid to dark brown coloured beer with a creamy fruity alcohol aroma. The beer is full bodied with a vinuous fruity taste. There is buttery smooth warming malty alcohol a plenty in this enjoyable strong ale.
