Cask at the Alexandra Hotel, Derby. Gold with a thin white head; grassy herbal aroma; fresh herbal and fruity flavour; gently bitter finish. Nothing excedptional, but a drinkable bitter nevertheless.

Cask (Kitty’s, Helsinki)
Mid gold, loose head. Served a little bit cold. Fruity noble hop aroma. Plenty of aromatic esters in the body, some burnt caramelliness too. Sticky back-of-the-mouth resiny hoppy bitterness. Similar finish. Had to rush it, unfortunately, so didn’t have time to let it warm. I guess it would be better less cold due to the aromatic nature of many of the flavours. Should re-rate.

(Cask, Wenlock Arms, London, 22 July) Copper colour with little head. Nose is fruity and hoppy with lots of citrus (grapefruit, mandarin). Same goes for the taste: fruity and hoppy with lots of grapefruit and some dust towards the finish. Good underlying malty backbone. Long hoppy finish. Nice one!

Cask handpull at Market Porter, Borough. Pale copper colour with lasting beige head. Strong piney hop aroma. Maybe US in style. Nice juicy malt in mouth and then heavy resiny hop finish. Grapefruit and sticky sweet hop on end. Nice though. Would have had another if it wasn’t for those other 11 pesky handpulls
