lb4lb (1388), Austin, Texas, USA Apr 20, 2008 Pours golden with a light white head. Smell is spiced yeast and malt. Very fruity and spicy. Taste is dryish but sweet and flavorful. Spiced estery, yeasty character, medium bodied with average carbonation and somewhat sweet for the style. Well made beer.
skoisirius (477), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 22, 2008 On tap at Flying Saucer in Fort Worth, TX. Pours a lightly hazed deep yellow with a bit of an orange hue. Light white not super retentive head. Mildly yeasty, somewhat bubblegummed aroma with hints of spice. The flavor begins on a slight sweet malt kick before moving progressively into a medium to thick heavily spiced body. Quite yeasty, almost bready. The spiced body gives way to a heavy Saaz finish that lingers and mixed with the spices extremely well! It just doesn’t BURST with flavor as much as some Trippels...but this is definitely a rare treat in the heart of Texas! wu1000k (6), Texas, USA does not count Jul 29, 2008 Pint at Uncle Billy’s Brew & Que. Gold/orange/hazy pour, aroma of fruit, bubblegum, and general all-around trippel goodness. Taste of citrus, sweet, and spice, with a somewhat sweet finish. My opinion of Real Ale went up a several notches with this one as I have only had their standard bottled fare in the past. Definitely a must-drink if you get the chance! 944play (16), Austin, Texas, USA Jul 18, 2008 Pint at Billy’s on Burnet. Hazy gold/orange, thick head. Apricot on the nose. Hardwood and vanilla notes back up a slight sweetness. Just a little bit sticky on the finish, but overall really good mouthfeel. Bartender claimed 9.2%; if so, it hides it REALLY well. Very good example of the style, IMO. theisti (1045), Leawood, Kansas, USA Jul 14, 2008 Draft - shaker pint glass at Beavers in Houston, TX. Pour is hazy orange golden, not too much head. Very thick lacing remained during the entire beer. Aroma is very thickly sweet and yeasty. Sweetness is honey and flowery. Very much a trippel nose. Taste is citrus fruity, pears, wheat, candy sugar yeast and some intersting hay - yeastiness. Seems to be some hop bitterness present throughout. A slight bit cloying in the finish. Nice one. jujubeast6000 (485), Houston, Texas, USA Jul 6, 2008 (Draft @ Alamo Draughthouse, West Oaks, Houston, TX): Pours a pale cloudy body, some foamy head, dIminishing.
