Piney aroma, with some skunkweed (like pot, not skunky beer...). Thin mouthfeel. Flavour is quite citric, very hoppy. Nice enough for the style, but nothing special. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 18, 2005 Bottle and enjoyed in my SN pint glass:
Poured a medium amber hue with a initial big frothy head which fades but produced a good amount of lace in it’s wake. The aroma has a sharp and juicy PNW blended hop character of pine, grass, herbs, and grapefruit with some bready and pale malts about. Even a touch of hop spice and pepper dancing around the edge. The taste is mostly as expected, hoppy and bitter with an okay balance of pale malt and a touch of pepper and herbal quality additionally for support. (I do wonder with hop is use for the dry hopping, I think it may be Simcoe). Anyway back to the review... The feel is crisp and dry, astrengent and woody aftertaste.
A solid offering in the overdone genre that is the staple of most breweries now daze, this one holds it own however. It is a big APA that borders on the level of IPA (or at least on IPA often found in the late 90’s). The 3rd of 4 Reaper beers I quite enjoyed, this is the little brother of Sleighor IMO which I am am going to drink after this just ’cause I wanna. Damn it Ratebeerians, get you some Reaper!

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 3, 2005 Dark golden color with a moderate dark cream colored head. Sweet pale malt with a fresh hops citrus aroma. Light floral mild herbs in the background. Fairly thin in feel but not to much to rate lower than average. Light pine wood and grapefruit flavors, under-balanced by mild malt. Nice flavors, just a little to light for my liking. A touch more malt heft and flavor and this is a real winner in my book. As it stand the tops of the three pale late evening. Thanks DocLock. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of honey malt, hops, some florals and spices. Tastes malty, with honey, crisp hops, florals, and black pepper. Dry finish, with nice floral and spice elements. roder60 (1033), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma is citrusy, floral, and sweet, but nothing too great. Flavor bitter at first but then melds into a more sour citrus taste. Palate is a little watery. Overall, not too great. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 5, 2005 Poured a hazy light copper color with a medium sized, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral and citrus hops, sweet caramel malts as well. Taste was bitter grapefruit, lots citrus in this one, sweet caramel, and no alcohol. Crisp and refreshing pale ale.
