Commercial Description:
Nearly solid black in color, this is a full-flavored complex brew of roasted barley, sugar and a hint of honey. Once poured, the smoky aroma melds nicely with the creamy head for a beer drinking experience not for the timid. Brewed at Sudwerk for ReaperAle.

Pours pitch black with a medium well retained light brown head. Very roasty aroma, some chocolate and dark malts as well. Just a touch of some coffee as well. Big roast and chocolate taste. Medium bodied, and a little bit sweet. Nice coffee and dark malts blend together. Aftertaste is mostly chocolate. Pretty good stout.

Black. 1cm of spongey light brown head doesn’t hang around long. Roasty malt, dark chocolate, light coffee, and resinous hops in the nose. Same flavors with some marshmallow, subtle licorice, and some tartness in the second half and finish. Medium/full body, balanced carbonation, soft on the palate. Very good brew.

Dark black with thin head. Sweet roasted malt aroma...some molasses and chocolate. Pretty tasty. A good amount of roast gives off smoke, licorice and a bit of hops. Definitely enjoyable....

nice black color...malty chocolate aroma. same flavors with a little vanilla sweetness. medium bodied. sweet finish that could use some more hoppy bitterness....definately not worthy of the macabre title.6/5/7/3/14/3.5

new brewer... black shade of brown with some burgundy tints. dark roasty aroma... chocolate, coffee and woodiness. the flavor is pretty much the same with some astringency and a bitter dry finish. light coffee in the aftertaste. still meh... 7/4/7/3/14/3.5

Black pour with a moderate head, good lacing and retention. Aroma is heavy on coffee/roast with notes of chocolate, caramel and a hint of hops and licorice. Interesting that it isn’t as licoricey sweet as other Foreign stouts. Medium bodied with a somewhat soft mouthfeel. Enjoyable.
