| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 26, 2007 22 oz bomber. Poured a velvety smooth looking black with an averge size light brown head. Aroma was chocolate ice cream, coffee, mlat and a slight touch of alcohol. Flavor however didn’t live up to the aroma and although nice with roasted malt, slight coffee and a good balance the palate was a little watery and I was expecting a little more. Good stout overall. jarspag (600), Los Angeles, California, USA

Reaper hit this one right - delicous stout - big recommendation. Looks great - pitch black, with a nice head. Pretty smooth with a nice balance of carbonation - and a fairly drinkable abv. Tastes like you would expect - with a hint of vanilla. Give it a shot for sure... alexanderj (2280), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 11, 2007 Poured a black with a medium to large creamy tan head. Aroma of coffee, malt, molasses; some earthiness, smoky and a slight metallic twinge. Really smooth stout; good palate and mouthfeel. Alcohol not really present much. Flavor of roasted malt, coffee a little chocolate, some caramel, with a dry finish. A lingering smoky finish; not overly smoky, maybe some wood too. Was surprised when I heard Green Flash brewed this; but not with the taste. Really a good beer. NachlamSie (1649), Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 9, 2007 Bottle split with Tronraner. Pours rather black with a small tannish head. The aroma has heavy coffee, meatiness, smoke, and earth. Mouthfeel is fairly dense, pretty much what I would hope for from this style. A nice ashy quality bites my palate along with mocha, plenty of coffee, and drying peanut skins. tronraner (1938), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 8, 2007 Bomber split with NachlamSie. Pours black with small, but retentive, khaki head. Aroma is coffee, molasses, a little bit of cashew, and even some smoke. The flavor is quite roasty, with lots of coffee notes. Bitter cocoa and molasses float around, too. I pick up some good smoky notes in the middle, too, which give it a certain meatiness. The finish is roasty, ashy, and woody, and leaves an ashy and very dry aftertaste. I rather like this beer. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Apr 2, 2007 22 oz bottle, purchased 11/30/06. Pours a dark black with red highlights. It has a creamy brown head that dissipates to a thin film that laces the glass.
The aroma is chocolate and grainy malts with notes of tar, vanilla and alcohol.
The flavor is charred chocolate and anise with a little slightly sour fruitiness. As it warms, a lot of sweet lactic vanilla comes out - a little too much. The alcohol is well hidden. The mouthfeel is medium to full and velvety.
Overall, a nice stout. It’s a little too sweet for me, it needs a little more roast or bitterness IMO. badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
