Sweet chocolate/tootsie roll foundation flavor nicely balanced with roast bitterness/acidity. Tart berry/roast in the finish. A well-made big stout, just not breaking any boundaries here. The aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, and a light grain or vegitable (doesn’t smell like DMS problems to me though). Taste is sweet malts, caramel, milk sugar, sweet chocolate, coffee. Smells strongly of smoked chocolate and some notes of raisin. Great aroma, anticipation is building so quick, dying for a taste. Ahh, very heavy body. Roasted flavor, chocolate, toffee-like. Great brew. waolsen (1222), Littleton, Colorado, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 22, 2006 bottle. poured black like the angel of death. Big creamy and frothy german chocolate head. Hoppy, sweet chocolate, smoky, coffee, vanilla aroma. A tad sour. Coffee, malty, chocolate. The balance is all off. Coffee in the aftertaste. I think I can see Little Nicki in the remaining head of this beer. This beer just didn’t make it. OldRaspy (292), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 21, 2006 Poured from a 22oz bomber almost but not quite black with a tan head. Aroma remindered me of a cup of coffee with sugar in it. Flavor was a good dark chocolate and coffee. MrEcted1 (144), Wheat Ridge, Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 15, 2006 A great value for a stout! Pours dark brown, almost black with decent head. The head dicipates pretty quickly. Has great flavor! Tastes of chocolate, coco and some coffee. The beer is a bit thin though. Picture a really nice sout that’s a bit watered down. Nothing bad though, great value at $2.99 a bomber! Definitely worth a try. Tybalt (56), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 2, 2006 I’ll be first in line to buy the air freshener I can hang from my rear view mirror. It has a wonderful chocolaty aroma, but it seems that the chocolate remains somewhat hidden in the flavor. A burnt coffee and vanilla (yes, I know I just said it smells like chocolate and tastes like vanilla) taste seems to be more at the forefront to me. It then fades into a slightly bitter and watery finish (yeah...bitter and watery probably don’t make sense together either...but I just call ’em like I see ’em...err...taste ’em). ryan (1778), Beltsville, Maryland, USA
