Wonderful aroma with milk chocolate, lactose, roasted grains, a hint of coffee and a bit of sweetness. Color is a very dark brown. Rich roasted flavor with a medium body. Silky smooth in the mouth and goes down very easy. More chocolate, coffee, burnt toast and a hint of dark fruit. Hides its medium range alcohol very well. Little sweetness which goes a long way to offset the dryness and bitterness from the coffee. FInish is pretty clean with a lingering sweet aftertaste with a little chocolate. A pretty good and rather easy drinking stout. HogTownHarry (4026), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada

Shared with blankboy, GregClow, jerc and tupalev - my bottle. Poured thick oily black with a good sized brown head. Dark dry roast pure cocoa malt, slightly lactic with some nice leafy hops in the background, also coffee and some sour cherry. Taste was very roasty, creamy and dry - lovely, coffee, nutshelldark cocoa and cherry bitterness. Creamy and smooth mouthfeel, with a longish bitter finish - I really like this a lot, I’d keep some on hand if I could get it easily. jerc (3964), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

(3+) Very mild roast aroma with a good amount of dark chocolate in the aroma. Roast seems to grow as it warms, and is more prominent in the flavour, and is initially off-putting, but it grows on me a little. Pleasant mild chocolate accents, and interesting hints of hops in the finish. Medium palate. Nice beer that I don’t necessarily want more of, but is probably under rated. Nothing particularly exciting or unique about it but it’s worth a try. On the sweet side but not too much. Like I said, it’s very well ballanced and user friendly. I enjoyed it. omhper (12299), Stockholm, Sweden

The aroma is all smoke, coffee grounds and chocolate. The well-balanced flavor is burnt and lightly bitter. Also chocolatey with mild sweetness. Light to medium-bodied with a fizzy mouthfeel. Finishes toasted and dry. wnhay (722), Princeton, New Jersey, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 6, 2006 Black with a thick tan head with short retention. Aromas of burnt chocolate, coffee and hints of caramel. Vanilla comes in later. Taste was pleasant but one dimensional. My only complaint was a bit of a vegetable taste that someone else mentioned. Palate was average. Not full enough for me. Finish had an alcohol kick. jennajlover (101), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 31, 2006 22 oz. bomber. Pours opaque and densely black, ivory rings of lace coat the glass. Ripe vinuous hops, chocolate, vanilla and coffee in the nose. Tingly carbonation hits the tongue initially, but mellows to become soft and somewhat creamy and slick. This is one of the sweeter Imperials I have had, but it is balanced well and adds to the flavor nicely. Dark fruit flavors are particularly abundant, a bit of plum and a lot of raspberry, balanced my a mild amount of bittersweet chocolate. I think one could easily mistake this for a (insert fruit flavor here...probably raspberry) Imperial Stout. Has a crisp hoppy finish - the bitterness cuts right through the sweetness. Alcohol is hardly detectable in the flavor but warms the soul. Oh yeah. Delicious stuff, and nicely balanced.
