Jan 14, 2006 A somewhat chocolate leaning stout with mild smokiness and coffee roast. fairly dry. Goes down pretty easy and hides its alcohol well. Better than I expected given the "cute" marketing oriented naming and label.

Jan 9, 2006 Green Flash in Vista had this in their tasting...I guess the contract it now. Very dark with a brownish head very thick head great pour. Excellent toffee and coffe notes light smoke enhances this brew. very think and most excellent palate.

Jan 5, 2006 On tap at the Liar’s Club, San Deielgo. Great label, disappointing brew. Smoky notes to the flavor, but all in all, I was disappointed, though the other offerings th the Liar’s Club may have influenced my feelings towards this brew, as there are many other outstanding micros on tap there.

Jan 4, 2006 Hey, this started off great. It was opaque, black with a creamy, tan head which lasted as I admired it. The reaction to the first sip was the hops and then.... nothingnot even a hoppy aftertaste. The head was still there though, but no lacing. A bit thin, it lacks the body of a good stout. I will remember the morbid, Poe like, artwork on the label long after this beer is forgotten.

Dec 29, 2005 Great beer but not that intimidating in the mouth. Actually very light compared to a Baltic Porter or an Imperial Stout like Avery or McKenzie. Creamy indeed but... PRICEY in NJ. I paid 13.99 and OK I admit it, I paid it again for a second one after I tried it but hey! Can’t we get a little break on the price?

Dec 28, 2005 Had this one with an Opus X (yeah I had to brag about that, lol). Pours out a deep black color with a small tan head. The aroma is very roasty. The taste is pretty well balanced with roasted malts being dominant flanked with soem notes of chocolate and smoke. Overall this was a good beer, should have had better with the cigar I was having, but this was not bad. Overall a pretty good experience.

Dec 27, 2005 22-oz. bottle. Pours very near opaque with an edgy tan head and lined lacing. Port, alcohol and caramel, dark chocolate malt aromas mix to greet you with fruit hop, raisins, notes. Dark bitter and sour chocolate malt, smoky and vinegar flavor -- maybe this one had been on the shelf too long. Dark and thin, oily palate.
