Strong coffee aroma. Has a smokey flavor. Oily and thick in body. Very roasted and chocolatey. Is this beer slightly salty? It works for it. A bit of anise flavor at the end. I think this beer is very under-rated. freekyp (903), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 4, 2005 With a waft of bittersweet chocolate and coffee and a towering flufffy brown head, you know this is a well-made stoout before even tasting it. Sweet throughout with a subtle hop kick to even things out this is one fine experience. The mouthfeel alone is worth the price. Smooth and creamy, it’s almost like a milkshake. A fine sweet stout. jasonp (1513), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 21, 2005 Pours a deep black with a thick, light brown head - no light shines through. Beautiful roasty, malted milk ball aroma. Flavor has notes of caramel, roasted malt, rich bakers chocolate, coffee and Whoppers. Pleasantly sweet, hops are there but not really prominent. Medium body with a creamy, smooth texture and moderate carbonation. Great head retention. It’s been done before but it’s very tasty and well made. Worth picking up. footbalm (1219), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

Very nice roasted aroma, sweet and malty. jzzbassman (850), New Albany, Mississippi, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 10, 2005 Opaque brownish black with a dark tan head. Released a big toasted malt smell with a hint of coffee. Sweet coffee and malt flavor; smooth with a hint of cream. Did not seem to be 7.5% alc. Very enjoyable stout with no off flavors. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 10, 2005 Bottle ala DocLock. Brown somewhat foamy bubbles atop black liquid. A sweet stout aroma, with caramel, roasted malts and a hint of lactose. Fairly thin in feel, but not watery. Straight forward flavors of roasted nuts, mild coffee, pale malts and a touch of roasted malt. Dry finish with a mild burnt linger. A quaffable stout. Lacks depth for me.
