Commercial Description:
Nearly solid black in color, this is a full-flavored complex brew of roasted barley, sugar and a hint of honey. Once poured, the smoky aroma melds nicely with the creamy head for a beer drinking experience not for the timid. Brewed at Sudwerk for ReaperAle.

Bomber from BevMo, Valencia. Nose of roasty coffee, chocolate, very light smokiness, and caramel. Black with a medium tan head. Flavor of chocolate, light bitterness, a slight burnt note, and some white pepperiness. Finish is lightly bitter chocolate.

Bottle. Thought this was discontinued. Pours a black body with a tan head. Sweet malty. Lots lots of toasted malt. LIght coffee, caramel, chocolate, and honey. Over ripe fruit or their sugars.

22 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville shared by Alraomon. Pours a very dark reddish brown color with a small head. Aroma of chocolate, coconut, roasted malts and some earthy notes. Bitter slightly acrid roasted malts in the taste with some citrus, nuts and dark fruits. Medium-full bodied.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown color, almost black, creamy fluffy tan head, bubble, lacing is minimal. Creamy caramel nose, peanut butter, chocolate, some roast and a big nuttiness. Flavors of dry roasted coffee, some sweet cocoa, some vanilla. Very sweet, almost sour. But it’s just not that good overall. Dry, thin-bodied, and tons of odd off-flavors.

Black pour with a creamy tan head that stuck around for a while. Aroma is deep roasted malt and coffee, cocoa, and touch of sweet dark fruit. Flavor is much the same, with a bit of a bitter bite on the dry finish. Medium mouthfeel, a bit light for a stout, but otherwise not a bad brew, especially for the price.

From tap at Pizza Port, San Clemente. Pours black with a creamy and light tan head. Mild butterish and slight spiced aroma with an underlying roasted malt presence. Light butterish and hardroasted malt flavour. Quite simple and solid brew. Mild acidic note into the finish from the roasted malt.

Nice latte head atop a thin mahogany brew. Aroma is that of roasted malt, coffee, and bittersweet chocolate. Is there a category for sour stout??? This one is oddly mouth puckering and tart. Flavor is way off...not reminiscent of the style at all. Yuck.

Bomber. Pours a pitch black with minimal, very carbonated tan head. Nose is cocoa, molasses and mild coffee. Taste is roasted malt, coffee grounds and ashy cocoa with a mildly bitter finish. Very light mouth feel for a stout. Meh, nothing to write home about.
