Commercial Description:
Nearly solid black in color, this is a full-flavored complex brew of roasted barley, sugar and a hint of honey. Once poured, the smoky aroma melds nicely with the creamy head for a beer drinking experience not for the timid. Brewed at Sudwerk for ReaperAle.

Pours a dark dark brown, with a light brown somewhat dense head. Not too strong of a nose on it kind of a toasty chocolate smell to it. I do get a bit of coffee in the taste along with dark chocolate and some smoke. Thick but not too thick, good crisp carbonation even though this beer is starting to get old on the shelves now. Pretty good stout. I’d like to see a little more ABV for such a dark tasty brew, but oh well.

Sampled at MN Ratebeer Winter Gathering in Maplewood, MN and supplied by nuffield. From a 22-oz bomber bottle pours a cloudy and opaque dark brown brew with a thin off-white head that has some good retention. Aroma of smoked dark malt, dark chocolate and some hints of coffee. Taste is medium to full bodied, light carbonation with a decent chocolate and malted barley flavor. Finish is smooth, creamy with a semi-sweet chocolate aftertaste with hardly no bitterness.

Pours black with a small head. Aroma of chocolate and smoked malt. Flavor seems to disappear right away, but then chocolate and smoke come to the mouth in the finish. Oddly balanced in my opinion, but the flavors that are there are good. Interesting.

Had this beer on 9/21/2006. Aroma is a light roasted malt scent. Color is a solid black with some what low carbonation and a thick tight head. Taste is smooth, burnt and dry. Starting with a full body it goes down with a smooth feel. Finish comes on with a full darkly toasted malt flavor that turns to burnt and then ends with a dry feel. Only down fall is it has a mild sweet after taste and on the first drink it seemed to have an almost fish like taste. Overall its a nice stout and gets better as you drink it but the sweet end and dry linger takes away from it.

22oz Bomber - Johns Market - Portland, OR
Aroma – Big huge deep dark malt aroma with chocolate and coffee in the nose
Appearance – This was a deep black color, clear and a thin dark head
Flavor – The beer was rich with flavor and a deep malty background and very nice spices and other flavors. Sweet and rich this was a great flavors brew.
Palate – The beer hit your tounge with a rich deep dark chcolate like taste and texture. Intresting and great to drink with a dry sweet finish
Overall –This was a great beer to hold on to for a while so it settled down. Lots of yeast at the end but this was a great beer with some sweet and rich flavors. This is not your average beer drinkers beer. This will puut hair on your toe nails.
