Poured a hazy, reddish amber color with a thin, off white head that nice light lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel, dark fruits, and floral hops. Taste of plums, caramel malt, light roast, citrus hoppiness, with a light alcohol finish.

on draft, Hollingshead Deli, Orange,CA I was surprised by this one, and pleasantly so. It pours a very deep reddish brown color. The flavor is nicely balanced between hops & malt. it’s quite tasty.

Very dark red, almost brown, with a thin, but well-sustained, tan head. A heavy, burnt caramel with some cream, an almost cinnamon spiciness and a very fruity malt aroma. Flavor is pretty staightforward...big malt, bitter, American strong ale with a strawberry fruit ester. Lacks the syrupy character and the sharp, acrid bitterness in Arrogant Bastard but this reminds me more of and aged, late 90’s Sierra Celebration.

Bottle. Pours a very dark reddish/brown color. Sweet hoppy aroma. Some malt smell as well. Flavor is mostly hoppy bitterness from start to finish. Not alot of subtleties. Not very exciting.

Bottle. Burnt orange color, whitish head that disipates quickly. Pruny, hoppy smell with some toastiness and a metallic smell. Slightly bitter taste and finish. Taste is predominately hops with not enough of the richness of the malts to fill out the flavor of the beer. Strange finish, tastes almost like burnt foliage. Not a fan. The bottle design was much better than the beer. Disappointed.

Hazy, golden red pour, poor head retention. Crisp, berry fruit-like hop aroma, trace detectable malt accents. Much lighter (medium light) body and mouthfeel than the appearance would suggest. A cranberry astringency and spiciness dominates the flavor, particularly in the finish. Malt flavors are only decently represented in the nose, and that is a very relative scale of decency. Unbalanced as a result, so while my personal preferences cause me to enjoy this brew, it is very much unrepresentative of the style in a classical sense.

Aroma of berry, cranberry, toffee, biscuit. Appears copper-red with good clarity, and a rocky cream-tan head that lasts. Flavor begins sweet and ends quite bitter, almost too bitter with not enough malt to balance. Palate is thin with appropriate effervescence. Overall, equal to or slightly less than the sum of its parts. A bit more malt to balance would make this a real winner, but I enjoyed my pint nonetheless.

Reddish amber pour. Small white head. Fairly weak aroma, some sweet malt tones present, but otherwise boring. Flavor is some caramel some hops, but not impressive. Light body, metallic tones, strange aftertaste. Needs word, kids, it needs work.
