Pours a dark amber with a nice sized frothy head and nice lacing. Aroma is big in the hop department. The flavor however was very malty. Best of both worlds. I like this one alot. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 12, 2006 bottle. hazy brown pour. thin head. nice lacing. very hoppy aroma. some nice roasted malts but very very hoppy for a red. Absolute hop bomb. If you blindfolded me I would guess this to be an IPA. I love it. Strange for its type but very good. I’ll have this again. jeffc666 (1892), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 8, 2006 Slighlty hazt red body topped by a thick full light tan head. The aroma is loaded with hops, quite fruity, peaches, and then some caramel toffee. The flavor is quite nice, sweet and well balanced. Very drinkable and it hides its relatively high abv very well. Solid quality beer. DYCSoccer17 (2192), Davis, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 4, 2006 22 ounce bottle purchased at Bevmo! in Sacramento/Natomas. Aggressive, chewy, caramel malty, woodsy, earthy aroma present with a good deal of hoppiness as well. Hops are PNW grapefruity and pine trees. Probably Cascades, among others. So yeah, this is a hoppy red ale that is pleasant to the nose. Transparent dark amber color with a nice, medium-sized light light beige head. Fair legging and lacing. Chewy lightly sweet, mostly roasted and toasted caramel maltiness to start. Turns mild-moderately hoppy later on with some nice earthy and grapefruity bitterness. Roasty malts linger and linger late in the aftertaste. This is very good and I think it is similar, and better than 3 Floyd’s Brian Boru. Snojerk321 (1999), San Diego, California, USA

Nose of hops, sweet malts and caramel. A great red.......I wish I could remember more about it, I was a little toasted....:) BuckNaked (1204), Tempe, Arizona, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 1, 2006 Green Flash tasting @ RFD’s: Pours to a clear copper-redish body with a medium tan-eggshell colored head, showing some nice lacing. The aroma is fresh hops (dry hopped?), citrus hops, light grass, along with mildly sweet grains and caramel. Taste is bitter grapefruit, showing a distinct high IBU’s that somewhat suprised me from the nose, alcohol, light caramel, and mild chocolate. beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA

Poured clear dark brown amber with large long-lasting off-white head. Soft carbonation. Light malt aroma. Light-to-medium bodied ale that starts dry with hoppy flavor. Finished dry with light hop bitterness. An unbalanced ale with very little malt presence and flavored like an over-steeped hop tea.
