Pours a deep brown color. Subtle aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Huge flavor of chocolate and roasted malt. Giant body, big and dry texture, soft carbonation. Perfect Palate.

22 oz bottle. Porter looking with a tan head and lacing. Description says figs, red apple and dates and I dont get any of that. Instead I get chocolate, grapes and cocoa. Taste is nice with the dried fruits mentioned and even more cocoa. Roasted grains abound as well in this really tasty treat. Caramel and mollasses are in there also.

Deep ruby in color with a variable grey head. Much is included in the aroma: grapes, raisins, pecans, sauna panels, tobacco, winter frost on mulch, cocoa powder, grape soda and wet dog. Big on flavor. English pipe tobacco, clothes chests, unrefined cocoa press, cherry pits and dark figs. Sweetening ensues from concord grapes and dark candi sugar. Fairly engulfing palate feel - not syrupy, but nearly an oil slick. Effervescence is dead on. Applaud the reaper. Finishes like a Christmas blend of pipe tobacco in cohorts with pinot noir. Nice stuff - thanks for landing me a bomber, tpkenned!

Multiple aromas in this one. Roasted coffee, some fruit notes and toast. Dark brown body but when held to light has that ruby hue. Head was average but was lasting nad some lacing cover on the glass. Flavor was alcohol bite at first. With a toasted roasty flavor in the middle and a caramel sweet taste at the finish. Man this is a good one.

Aside from Sleighor Double IPA, the might be ReaperAle’s best. Pours dark with crimson highlights. Dense, respectable head. An eclentic palate of aromas: oak, rich, roasty malts, hints of molasses, raisins, and even bit on the sweet side. Alcohol is apparent, but not overly aggressive. An overall, well-made strong beer. Tasty. :)

On Tap-Brewery/22 oz bottle (I had to try it both ways) Beuatiful pour, nice off white head, moderate lacing. Very complex nose to this one. Currants? Blackberries? Mild hop note, very malty aroma. Very hearty mouthfeel, very rich on the palate. Again berries? currants? Lots of chocolate/cocoa notes as well. This beer has a lot going on, A symphony for the senses! Chuck’s most ambitious beer yet! Well Done!

Twenty-two-ounce bottle. Poured an almost perfect black. When held just inches from a lightbulb there is a red glow to it. Thick off-white head that led to nice lacing. To me, this is exactly what a beer should look like when poured. Dark fruit smell with earthy hop undertones. Sweet almost plum-like fruity taste at the front of the mouth with a slightly metallic, earthy hop taste in the back of mouth. Suprisingly hoppy for a beer this dark. More coffee and chocolate notes come out as the beer warms.Rich mouthfeel. Truly a unique beer.
