Commercial Description:
Don’t be fooled by the label depicting a Grim Reaper Santa Claus in a sleigh pulled by skeletal reindeer - this is not a Christmas Ale. "Sleighor" is an Imperial India Pale Ale. The intense hop bitterness, flavor and aroma will dominate at first. To complement, the body has a complex blend of malt and alcohol flavors. The ABV is 9.1%, and the IBU’s are pushing the mid 80s. The entire family of Cascade hops is used. Cascade, Centennial and Columbus are spread throughout the boil, and a huge sack of Amarillo for dry hopping. The hop combination gives this brew a distinct profile true to its IPA roots. The presentation is clear copper with a thick tan head, coupled with billowing citrus and floral hop aroma. "Do You Dare" to enjoy this fine ale from the Reaper? Brewed at Sudwerk for ReaperAle.

Pour is a murky orange with an off white head....laces well. Aroma is all hops and resin. The taste has hints of fruit at the outset and a balanced hop bitterness on the finish. One of the best IIPA’s I’ve had.

Bottled. Cloudy amber, rich head. Stron aroma of grapefruit and lychee. Sweet and malty with full body and some syrup. Hop induced notes of marmelade and salty licorice, massively bitter finish. Ther sweetness is the one drawback.

Big flowery aroma with some malts. Big fullbodied taste. "Tutti frutti". Chewable. Orange peel. Long aftertaste.

Eary Dec ’05 tasting. Orangy pour. Grapefruit rind hop aroma, with some touches of orange. Sweet caramel malt backing with a lot of citrusy hops, again with that touch of orange. Lingering bitter finish. Good.

"Poured a hazy, dark amber color with an off white head that left good lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, pine, and floral hops. Flavor was piney, and major grapefruit flavor. Good beer."

A great brew for me, I opened it an hour ago, and its still got a small head on it, with plenty of lacing. Alcohol doesn’t smack you in the face, as I expected it would. I had a prime rib burrito with this one, very nice! lol.

Bottle... Clear, orange ale with a large, frothy, off-white head. Excellent retention. The nose is pink grapefruit pulp floating in a vat of freshly squeezed island fruit and tangerine. Bitter as hell and fruity. The nice, solid, caramel malt backbone is only an afterthought as the lupulin clings to the back of my tongue and throat until my mouth is numb and my wind pipe is all but "cut-off." Ok, maybe I exagerrate, but the brew is really very bitter. Full-bodied and dry with lively carbonation. A hophead’s dream beer! Thanks go out to DarkElf for the bottle!

22 oz. bottle. A hazy copper pour with a thick sandy head that leaves plenty of lace. Lots of strong, resiny hops in the aroma. Oranges dominate and are followed by some grapefruits, lemons and pine. Sweeter and fruitier aroma than other I2PAs I’ve had. Medium-bodied. Some maltiness, but mostly it’s just all about the varieties of hops. Acidic, herbal and bitter as hell! A very dry finish that lingers along with some warming alcohol. A very pleasant surprise.
