Commercial Description:
Don’t be fooled by the label depicting a Grim Reaper Santa Claus in a sleigh pulled by skeletal reindeer - this is not a Christmas Ale. "Sleighor" is an Imperial India Pale Ale. The intense hop bitterness, flavor and aroma will dominate at first. To complement, the body has a complex blend of malt and alcohol flavors. The ABV is 9.1%, and the IBU’s are pushing the mid 80s. The entire family of Cascade hops is used. Cascade, Centennial and Columbus are spread throughout the boil, and a huge sack of Amarillo for dry hopping. The hop combination gives this brew a distinct profile true to its IPA roots. The presentation is clear copper with a thick tan head, coupled with billowing citrus and floral hop aroma. "Do You Dare" to enjoy this fine ale from the Reaper? Brewed at Sudwerk for ReaperAle.

Sampled at the Ohio Labor Day gathering, provided (I believe) by BBB63. Hazy amber body, medium cream/buff clumping head. Bready, light piney aroma with some fruit rind but balanced nicely by malts. Sweet, sugary grapefruit body with rind flavors and pine, bread, and toast, and flashes of alcohol. Full and creamy. A very good IPA that didn’t really scream "I2PA" to me, but I wasn’t aware of the high ABV when I sampled this!

I had this the same night I tried the Moylan’s IPA. Thank God I had that one first. Bronze pour with a huge head. Full of hops in the aroma with a good mix of pine and grapefruit. Powerful hops in the taste, mixed with a sweet malt back. Hoppy kind of bitterseet finish. Nice.

Bottle: Mahogany color, light head, light lacing. Nose of musky hops and malt sweetness, fairly basic and balanced. The flavor is spicy and winter warmerish. Finish is nice and balanced as well. Good!

Woody gold brown. A more mature tasting beer than the Papago Hop Father that this went back-to-back with. Rich, caramel, diacetyl and fruit. Satisfying palate. Better than the last Reaper beer that I had by a long shot.

(thanks to DarkElf for the bottle!!) Copper coloer with an off white head. Nice lacing, too. Aromas are of cookies, carmel, and pine trees. Chewy, malty body with a sweet bread character and some earthiness. Dry, piney finish. Thanks Stephen!!

I’ve seen this brewery’s beers around Atlanta and never bought them because the labels look pretty stupid and gimmicky. This beer surprised me though. Nice malty backbone. Sweet, but not too sweet. The hops are fresh tasting and up front and aggressive, but a little on the harsh side, but not so harsh as to push it into the undrinkable area.

RBSG 05. Nice hoppy aroma, citrus some pine and very resiny. Lots of malt background in this beer. Finishes a bit warming but very nice. I really liked this one!

Bottle: Courtesy of DarkElf via trade. Lots of caramel, toffee, and banana bread in the aroma. Hops are present but the malts dominate the aroma. Pours a deep red with some transparency and a nice off-white head that becomes a small ring. Lots of caramel and banana bread up front. Big piney hop finish. Reminds me much more of the hoppy barley wines as opposed to an IIPA, which I don’t have a problem with.
