| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 22, 2009 Pours an amber orange with a two finger creamy dirty white head. The nose is piny, sweet caramel, peanut shell, nice malty sweetness, some citrus rind. Flavor is crisp and bitter, some peanut shell, citrus rind, nice malt balance. Nice present piny bitterness. Not bad, just not great for an IIPA. HoosBrews (11), North Carolina, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 21, 2009 Appearance was slightly more red than orange. Decent nose, although a little thin for a DIPA. Taste is extremely dry. Second and third sips even drier with a slightly medicinal, metallic finish. Not a really a great DIPA... TURDFERGUSON (1605), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 19, 2009 Glowing and layered orange red with a small off white head. Nice nose of citrus, pine. Flavor is citrusy, beautifully bitter, and pretty well balanced. Very juicy mouthfeel. Alcohol well hidden. dmac (1497), Toms River, New Jersey, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 15, 2009 22 oz bomber from Jonathan Ron. Pours a murky muddy burnt orange with an average size mostly white foamy head. Aroma was lots of dirt, slight touch of smoke , caramel and a touch of citrus. Flavor has lots of dirt and alcohol upon warming some old rotting citrus rinds. Ugh after pretty much liking their other offerings this one is a let down. NobleSquirrel (1115), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 14, 2009 Bottle from Sam’s, I think. Pours a dark red-brown with a cream foam head. Nose is standard C-hops, a bit dusty, somewhat citrusy. Earthy crystal malts come through as well. Taste is somewhat subdued with soft cardboard and clean citrus as well. Very drinkable and especially dangerous at 9.1%. Not too shabby! arondee (176), Tucson, Arizona, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 1, 2009 Pours a dark brown color with a nice off white head. small amount of lacing, not much carbonation. Aroma is full of hops and malt. The taste is very unique for a double IPA, this isn’t the citrusy super hoppy beer I was expecting. Instead there’s a good amount of hops balanced by malts with a medium mouthfeel. Alcohol is hidden very well. It’s more heavy on the malt and caramel flavors than I was expecting. Really well made and well balanced. Cornfield (4963), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 1, 2009 Bomber from the Binny’s in Orland Park, IL: This poured a deep copper body with a tall manilla head - no lace. The aroma was rich with sweet caramel, countered by a sturdy yellow grapefruit, earth, zest, and light pine hop scents. It’s a big beer, and surprizingly well balanced for a DIPA, the hoppy bitterness rearing its head near the end and lasting through the prolonged dry, bitter, peppery finish. The alcohol remained hidden the whole time and I would have thought this was a straight IPA had I not known better. Quality stuff. Metalhead (571), Lake Zurich, Illinois, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | May 18, 2009 Pours a hazy bronze with a decent head.
Aroma is a mild hop/malt combo.
So far ok,
Taste starts like a typical IIPA then quickly changes to a WTF is this earthy chewing on weed stems finish. Got a little better as it warmed. The malt came out but ZERO pine ZERO citrus BBQ chips saved it from being drain pour. $6 a bomber. Save yer $.
