| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 14, 2005 Reddish amber body topped by a foamy two finger head made this a decent looking beer. The lacing was well spread out along the sides of the pint glass. The aroma was mildly nutty and malty. The taste was soft, sweet, and evocative of apples, pears, and oranges. The mouthfeel was soothing, and a hint of smoky roastiness could be detected in the aftertaste. Easy to drink, and not dumbed down, for some reason I had never sampled this local staple until now. The loss was all mine. Probiere (992), Iowa, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 14, 2005 Brown/light ruby color, good calrity. Smell cocoa, coffee, dry nuts, mint, biscuit. Taste: chocolate, toast, dry nuts, coffee. Finish toasty and nutty. Not a brown ale at all, but I enjoyed the malt interplay and it was very clean tasting. I liked it. footbalm (1219), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 3, 2005 Courtesy of Goldtwins. Deep red color and a thick head. Bready aroma. Tastes a little of barley, but not much. I would never have guessed that it was a brown ale. Decent showing. dhlesq (233), Thousand Oaks, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 26, 2005 Aroma of biscuit, toast, malt. Appears a deep reddish-orange with crystal clarity and modest effervescence of largish bubbles. Creamy off-white head composed of largish bubbles and leaving good lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet at the start, a bit roasty in the middle, and bitter at the finish, but it maintains an underlying sweetness all the way through. Palate is well-balanced, moderate, and appropriate for the beer. This beer is an easy, and fast, drinker. I wouldn’t mind having a keg on tap as a thirstquencher. Overall, this beer is equal to the sum of its parts. Thanks to TheCellarMan2 for providing it. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 25, 2005 Copper coloring. Thick, bubbly head, most likely larger than usual from the way my .5 L boot glass amplifies beer heads. Smells nutty, malty and sweet. Nice and smooth with a woodsy taste. Thanks to goldtwins for the bottle! goldtwins (4086), Nesconset, New York, USA

Aroma and flavors are malty and smokey. Mild tart flavor in the background. Light to medium body. RateandPillage (417), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 9, 2005 Pours reddish-brown with a thin tan head. Nutty, malty, and slightly smokey aroma. Flavors much of the same. A little thin, and not very true to style. But, I think I like this better than most raters.
