Poured a pale, somewhat unattractive brown color with a super short white head. The aroma lightly roasted malts, sugar and nuts. The flavor follows suit. The mouthfeel is thin and slightly astringent.

12 ounce bottle from an Ingles in Asheville, NC. Pours a clear reddish brown color with a thin head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma is malty with notes of chocolate and nuts. Taste is sweet nutty malts with a bitter hop finish. Medium bodied.

Cloudy amber, no head, light lace. Sweet syrupy aroma. Thick malt and sour, too sweet, with a lot of cloying fruitness, not what I was expecting from a brown, yuck

12oz bottle courtesy of a recent trade with Ding. Nice brown-red color, little head to be seen, and a good malty smell. Very tasty and slightly reminiscent of great divide hibernation. Easy to drink and better than I expected and I am not a fan of this style. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 04-05-2009 20:54:21

Pours caramel brown with a thin tan head. Nose and flavor are slightly nutty and caramel. I mean slightly. Boring even for a brown ale.

I love the smells of this, its nice and smooth with a touch of molasses. the look looks good too. sadly the taste is less than expected. Although it contain some nice mails there is a touch of shoe polish and astringent bitterness at the end. still worth your time though.

Pours light brown with nice smooth white head. Smell of sweet malt with nice taste of subtle brown ale goodness. Not overly powerful and I am shocked to find out that it is 6.5% abv. Didn’t even hit me that hard and I had 4 of them. Not the best brown I’ve had but good nono the less.

12 oz. Bottle. Pours a copper-red color with a thin off-white head. Sweet toasted malt aroma. Taste is surprising - a spicy beginning segues into a sweet, malty finish. This is the first beer I’ve had from this brewery and I was caught off guard by its quality.
