Small light tan head. Aroma is very benign with some light nutiness and malts. Flavor has caramel, nuts, and a light finish of floral hops. Ok. Elwood (677), Leesburg, Virginia, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 19, 2009 Light amber color that reminds me of tea. The head was a light brown and was not retained for long. A malty odor with what seemed to be a slight sourness. Light and crips mouthfeel with a high level of carbonation. Maltiness is overpowered by the hop bitterness. Slight taste of bitter fruit peel and bread. Overall not the worst version of the style, but probably not a beer I will go back to. Clear, copper-brown with a quarter-inch of cream above that lasts forever. Aroma is of toasted pecan, cocoa, and light toffee. Tastes of toasted nut, bitter nutshell, unsweetened cocoa, toffee and hints of tart green apple. Medium body is smooth, slightly watery, and roast-dry on the finish. Nice lacing left on the glass. Very nice example of this venerable and underrated style. Suttree (2732), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jan 30, 2009 Overcarbonated. Mild caramel malt nose. Huge white head. Deep amber, almost light brown in color. Cocoa powder flavor with caramel apple and a bit of noble hops. Sour finish. Overly carbonation leads to an not enjoyable experience. kpresley77 (134), Jackson, Georgia, USA
