Bottle from jrob_21 - thanks, Jonathan! Slightly sweet, nutty, roast, and caramel nose. Transparent brown pour with a rocky tan head. Bitter, dry taste with moderate roast, nuts, caramel, and a little ash and earthy hops for balance. Light toffee and some bg citrus. A good deal of complexity for a Brown. Touch of alcohol coming through at the end; aftertaste is dry and seemingly somewhat smoky. Medium body is a bit wishy-washy, and the malt is a bit off somehow, but on the whole, a nice quaffer.

Bottle (12 oz) Nothing special to the nose. The color is a light brown color. Looks more like an amber ale. The alcohol is hidden well since learning its abv is 6.5% from this site. Hints of coffee, oatmeal, possibly some brown sugar in the flavor. But hey, for $6.00, including tax, for a sixer its worth its value.

This is a fairly bitter brown ale. The smell is not overwhelming or powerful, I was not impressed and i think their description, or my palate is off. Will try the pale, directly after.

Brown and lots of carbonation. Mild malt aroma, but like the weizen, this seems infected. Some malt. They definitely have bottling or some other quality control issue.

Light brown with massive head. Another infected bottle, but the funk on the aroma isn’t pleasant like the last one.

12 oz.bottle on 4/25/2008. Clear medium brown with a spare off white head. Aroma of brown sugar, lightly roasted nuts, and some graininess. Medium body. lightly carbonated, some stickiness on the palate. Malty sweetness dominates the flavor, and a touch of bitterness comes on slowly at the finish, but the sweetness lingers.

Draft. Dark brown/amber color with a small head. Smelled of mostly malt with a little yeast and hop aroma. Tasted predominantly of chocolate. pretty good brown ale. I am not a huge fan of the style and have only had a few different kinds, but this was my favorite anyway.

A decent beer. Very earthy in taste, at times a strong wheat/grass taste, like chewing on straw. Not much of a finish to this one - really leaves you wishing for something more. Not a bad brew, but not great either.
