12 oz bottle thanks to unclemattie. Black, thick pour with a thick, tan head. Chocolate, malty, oatmeal nose. Taste is sweet, chocolate, caramely. Nice smooth, full mouth. Good beer and the alcohol is well hidden.

Black with reddish dark brown around the sides and in thinner areas where hit by light. Nice oatty scent, roasty malt, expresso, and chocolate. The roasty flavors even come out stronger in the taste. Very toasted barely, roasted chocolate, and burned coffee. This was not my first beer of the day, so maybe my senses were dulled, but i did not notice the alc%, and thought the beer went down pretty smooth with a dry roasted finish. A very nice porter.

Winter 2007 edition. The body appears black in the glass, showing only hints of mahogany at the edges when backlit. A small, bubbly, light tan head leaves thick honeycomb lacing on the glass. A swirl reveals a less than substantial viscosity, hinting at a less than stellar mouthfeel. The aroma is roasted barley all the way, with a good deal of oatmeal, faint espresso, baker’s chocolate, and light soy sauce. The flavor is essentially the same, with roast coming through really strong. Coffee and scorched barley are the heavy hitters, while a slightly salty soy component comes through with the bitter chocolate on the back end. Medium bodied at best, as the appearance hinted, the brew is smooth and creamy, but lacking enough substance to support the 7.5% ABV. Finishes long, roasty, and bitter. Overall, this a pretty nice brew, but it’s nothing to write home about.

Bottle thanks to Cougar (I believe). Poured deep garnety brown with a tall cap of yellowy-beige head. The aroma picked up sour tannins and sweeter chocolates.. dark fruits and vanilla emerged with warmth.. smelled slightly infected. The flavor had much more sourness.. sour fruits over creamy cocoa and vanilla.. lighter roast to it.. a little oak came through as well.. unfortunately the sourness took over on the finish. Too much carbonation on the palate, and the lingering sourness on the finish was not good.. rather dry.

Appearance: Pours a dark brown, near black body with a frothy, light tan head. Smell: Predominately roasty, black malt aroma with lesser notes of bittersweet chocolate, oats, and spice. Taste: Substantial black malt flavor and accompanying bitterness. Hints of scorced coffee and unsweetened chocolate. Spicy, herbal hop bitterness. Dry, roasty finish with a light astringency. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: A decent roast-forward porter from ABC. Definitely one of their stronger beers.

Bottle from The Beer Cellar. Thanks!
Pours a beautiful, rich brown/black with an aroma of coffee and cigarette ash. Flavor is a rush of coffee bitterness and cocoa. Tobacco makes an appearance between sips. Nice mouthfeel; flavors are spread well. I want more of this. This is good stuff.

12 oz bottle from trade with TheBeerCellar. Pours a dark brown with a 1/2 inch tan head which lingered and created nice lacing. Aroma of coffee and a hint of chocolate. Flavor was a stout-like roast (not burnt) coffee, oats and some chocolate. Mouthfeel was medium, similar to other porters, with dry aftertaste. Nice porter. I liked it.

Bottle from aracauna. Pours a ruby-brown color, fairly weak initial head disappaering to near nothing, not providing much lacing either. The aroma was nice bitter chocolate and roast. The flavor followed suit, more of a cocoa-choco type flavor, gently bitter roast, dry, slightly coffee-like acidic finish. Mouthfeel was excellent, nice body, thinned by the oatmeal, nothing sticky or sweet in this beer, yet nice drinking. Good stuff, Jacob, thanks.
