Bottle provided via trade with shp555. Pours dark brown with an average creamy light brown head, somewhat lasting, fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (caramel, chocolate, toasted), light hops (grass) and light yeast (dough). Full bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness and acidity, moderate bitterness.

12 oz bottle. Clear, but dark, brown with a tan, ice cream float head. Spots of lace. Dusty chocolate and coffee, light vinous. Sharp and carby to start. Coffee, grapefruit and burnt raisins. Finishes with lime peel sourness. Sticky but not sweet, medium light.

Bottle from unclemattie; nose of chocolate, coffee, roastiness, and smoke; Slightly hazy cherry brown with a small beige head; flavor is coffee, and some bittersweet chocolate with background hoppiness. After the coffee fades a nice hop bitterness makes a finish. Pretty good porter.

Bottle via Tom and served in my Unibroue snifter: Pours a very deep brown with ruby highlights topped by a beautiful beige frothy head with good lacing on the glassware. The aroma has notes of chocolate, walnut, fresh coffee, a hint of smoke and plum, and a note of grassy and classic hop vapours. The taste is really less sweeter than the nose let on with a crisp acidity and a mild hop bitterness in harmony with the layer of chocolate and a finishing heavy dose of wet processed coffee. A play of nutty and smoke qualities over the aftertaste. The mouth feel is a tad thin but then again it is a porter and not a stout. Lively enough but a chalky dryness does lessen the overall enjoyment factor. A solid brew I would drink again.

12oz bottle, a smart extra from goldtwins! pours very dark with off-white head. nose has tons of baker’s chocolate and stale coffee. flavor has some mild roasted notes, bittersweet chocolate, and stale coffee. mouthfeel is a tad thin and fizzy. alcohol is well hidden. a decent beer but nothing special.
