Smell is heavy on coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, and espresso. Taste is smooth and sweet, and very creamy. Almost like drinking a chocolate bar. Really damn good actually, I wish I had more of these, but Matt only sent me one. :( Good stuff, try it if you can! alexanderj (2270), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Feb 22, 2007 Poured black, small to medium creamy, ligth brown head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted coffee; a little sweet. Flavor was cominated more by the coffee; not very sweet. Not too much chocolate. Seems to be more of a stout in some aspects to me. Body was a little light. Alcohol not present. Some bitterness in the finish. Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 13, 2007 12 oz bottle compliments of TBC2! I was going to share this @ the Cleveland gathering, but since we’ve gotten a bunch of snow already and we’re expecting a bunch more, and I don’t have to work tomorrow...Sorry Cleveland raters! Tight light beige lasting head on a garnet highlighted dark brown body. Initial aromas are roasted coffee, chocolate, nutty malt, and cookie dough. Oats add to the cookie dough aromas. Hop aroma and flavor as well as fruitiness seem non existant. Flavor is well balanced throughout w/ a malt/hop swetness balance. Malt however plays a pivotal roll in the overall flavor being both cookie dough like, roasted, chocolatey, nutty, and a tad bit bitter. Bitterness also comes a little bit from the herbal hop flavor found in the finish, but the aftertaste is all about the roasted, chocolate, and nutty malts. Again, no fruitiness (not a bad thing for this beer), and has a nice semi dry finish. Body is smooth, lighter medium body, and has a well hidden alcohol along w/ a lower medium carbonation. Overall a very well made beer. Dry enough from both hop bitterness and dark grains to beg for more while avoiding cloying sweetness, but malty enough to keep it from being overly bitter. I’d love to have more of this!
