On draft - Stogies and Stouts at Dunedin Brewery 02/08/07. Pours dark with creamy-frothy light brown head. The aroma is of semi sweet chocolate and semi sweet malts and overall its kind of light. The taste starts out fairly neutral then leans in the sweet malt direction. Just beyond that a hint of fruit surfaces and is then swallowed by a smooth mixture of coffee, chocolate, caramel and burnt malts.

Pours a dark brown with a light white head. Pretty smoky smell, with hints of roasted malts and coffee. It tastes of light espresso and roasted nuts. Light chocolate is also present, with sweet dark malts as well. Even a hint of some sweet dark fruit towards the finish was detected which threw me off a little but was kind of nice. pretty good winter brew.

Bottle from TheBeerCellar2. Thanks! Pours an opaque blackish brown with a massively lacy tan head. A bunch of chocolate in the nose with just at touch of oatmeal to prop it up. Creamy medium body with medium carbonation. Sweet, creamy chocolate taste with vanilla, coffee and cookie dough. Espresso and pine finish. I’m not sure if it’s possible to have an "Oatmeal Porter." This beer seems to be a stout masquerading as a porter, but that’s COMPLETELY OK with me.

Big tan head builds on the jet black body. Sticky lacing in the wake. Both dark and sweet chocolates rise from the tulip. Lesser notes of coffee beans, brownies and vanilla as well. Full, oatmeal enhanced mouthfeel. A great balance of chocolate and coffee with a mild hop bitterness make this real drinkable and not overly sweet. Well balanced for so much malt.

The beer pours very dark brown and almost opaque. The head is thick and light brown - but doesn’t last long nor does it lace the glass. The aroma is thick with malts, dark chocolate, hints of hops, and fair dose of yeast. The flavor is a little sweet on the tip of the tongue. There is a strong presence of yeast throughout. Towards the middle of the beer, coffee, roasted malts, and some chocolate come through along with some bitter hops. The finish is full and bittersweet. The mouthfeel is medium in body. I certainly would not have guessed its strength - it hides the alcohol quite well, and, were it not for its strength, it would make a nice session beer for a cold winter evening.

Bottle courtesy of shp555, thanks Steven. What a surprise when I poured this winter brew and found a dark body with decent size head. I saw the "winter" part and thought it was an English Strong Ale like so many others. A Porter was a nice surprise. Aroma is of roasted malt. Flavor is slightly sweet with a chocolate malt flavor standing out. Finishes smooth and clean. Good Porter.

Savannah, Ga. - Habersham Beverage Warehouse - 12 oz bottle. Dark, ruby red to black pour with an ever lasting mocha colored thick head. Aroma is a bit off at first - reminiscent of BO (body odor) - but mellows to a fruitiness and chocolate concoction. Flavor has an immediate chocolate presence and hangs around for quite a while. Coffee notes and a hint of bitterness in the back end. Smooth and clean and very thick mouthfeel. My wife and I really enjoyed this one - passed her test!. Pleasantly surprised from ABC - the folks who brought us Laughing Skull!.
