A touch of peanut butter. Beautiful mostly black pour with a large, fluffy head. Still a bit of asstringency in the taste, very dry, a touch of oats. There is a fleeting touch of chocolate mid-sip which is nice, though I could do with it being more pronounced. Coffee is noticable in the finish. hopscotch (5543), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jan 9, 2007 Bottle... Hazy, almost black, ale with a small, creamy, khaki head. Smoky, chocolaty aroma and flavor. Good balance. Lightly sweet, modestly bitter and burnt. Oxidized just a bit. Light to medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Astringent, bone-dry finish. Kudos to goldtwins for shipping me this bottle! shrubber85 (2995), Wallhalben, Germany

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 6, 2007 Bottle. Pours pretty near black with a firm tan head. The aroma is chocolatey, oaty, with some coffee as well. Yeah, pretty much what I was hoping for and very well balanced too. The flavor is awesome. There is a robust presence of oats and a slighty bitter ashiness that nips my toungue throughout. The finish balances things out with rich chocolate and well rounded smokiness. Excellent stuff, despite the grevious misspelling of "espresso" in the commercial description. cbkschubert (2020), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 5, 2007 12 oz. bottle via trade with goldtwins - Pours a brown color with a one finger thick light tan head. Lots of lacing. Has a funky roasted malt aroma. I can’t finger what it is. Has a sharp coffee flavor. A smooth, medium body beer. A good porter. Thanks Larry. tronraner (1938), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 4, 2007 Bottle from 2006. Pours black with amber edges and small beige head. The aroma is bitter chocolate and cold espresso, with some pistachio. The flavor is chocolate, espresso, granola, and a dry roasty finish. Good stuff. MacDaddyOJake (274), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 2, 2007 Bottle purchased from a Kroger in Atlanta. Very dark and thick. A nice small creamy head on top. The aroma was filled with malty goodness, but not a trace of any variety of hops. The aroma is very roasty with chocolate, coffee and oatmeal hints. Flavor is similar except all of the chocolately notes are overpowered by either bittersweet or coffee flavors. The oatmeal seems to have made the body thick and smooth but contributes little to the overall taste. A nice winter brew and a pleasant surprise from this micro brewery. I would like to try some of their others and will definitely do so if I find myself in Atlanta again. TURDFERGUSON (1606), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 31, 2006 Bottle from goldtwins. Thanks Larry! Pours a dark, opaque black with moderate white lacing. Aroma is roasty with notes of bittersweet chocolate, coffee, oatmeal. Flavor is similar, roasted malt, lactic acid, chocolate, roasted coffee beans. Lacks any real hop flavor. A bit surprising, really. Otherwise, a nice, rich, mocha porter.
