12 oz bottle. Dark pour with some definite chocolate aromas. More aromas of burnt malts. Flavors were less chocolate and more burnt and roasted malts with some porter dust. Oatmeal was apparent if I used my imagination... is that allowed????

Thanks to jrob_21 for this nice bonus beer. Pours dark brown with red highlights with a fluffy tan head, becoming minimal and lasting. Aroma smells like oatmeal, almost salty, with some hershey kisses, bread, and a slightly fruity hop presence. More of a normal taste, with toast, light coffee, strong dark chocolate, oats (without Hall), but it’s more burned than on the nose. Finishes with dark chocolate, bitter coffee, roast, bread crust, and a lingering dark chocolate aftertaste. Medium bodied, well-carbonated and silky, but not really that creamy and mouth-coating. Pretty good.

This poured brown in color with a moderate beige head. The nose showed off lots of cocoa powder along with coffee, nuts, sweet malt and a hint of vanilla. In the mouth it is medium-bodied and comes off qutie crisp with the cocoa and coffee playing the dominate roll.

btl opened by Springslicker. Toasted malt with a hint of sour. Chocolate and a tad of dry fruit. Brown pour with a tan head. Bitter chocolate flavor with a very good bitter finish. A tad thin and foamy. Slightly above average beer that has a very nice finish.

Scored this in a trade with daknole. Many thanks! 12oz bottle (2007 vintage I believe) pours a opaque, medium bodied black with brown edges and a creamy, lacing white head. Aroma is nice, chocolate, coffee grounds, sweet malts and a bit of tree bark. Flavor is let down after a nice inviting nose with some chocolate, a little bit of watery coffee, some dark grains and definitely some sugars from the oatmeal. Finish is watery and bland. Looks good, smells good but never delivers beyond that.

I was pleasantly surprised with this brew. Looks great in the glass, nice head, thick feel and look. Great aroma of chocolate and roasted coffee. Tastes about the same. The aftertaste leaves you wanting more. Good, solid beer.

12oz bottle, no date--thanks to shp555 for the bottle. Very deep ruby with a 1/2 finger beige head, pretty good retention. Milk chocolate and sweet caramel dominate the aroma. Roasted malts and oatmeal are next, and I couldn’t really pick out much else. Flavor is more roasty with a bit of a salty soy addition, and of course, less sweetness. The dry finish gets a little too ashy, and bitterness peaked around a 3. Alcohol is masked just fine. Medium body is smooth with low carbonation. All in all, pretty good.

12oz bottle-pours a dissipating light brown head that bubbles and black color with red tint. Aroma is cocoa, dark malt/oats, some acidic, dark fruit-raisin. Taste is thin, cocoa, dark malt/oats, some acidic/earthy hops, dark fruit-raisin. Mild carbonation. Thanks to springslicker for sharing.
