I agree with alexanderj on the metallic hop taste. Almost no initial flavor, followed by mild bitterness and then more metallic hop bitterness. Not very good. alexanderj (2280), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Mar 2, 2007 Poured a clear golden-orange. Aroma of caramel malt; citrus hops, and a little pine. I normally don’t pick up on a metallic hops taste, but did here. Flavor is mostly thin and hoppy. Lacked a malt balance; no sweetness. Dry; bland. Not very good for the style. | 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Feb 18, 2007 Bottle (Wayyy overpriced in Birmingham). This pale ale is a cloudy gold with a very dense, mountainous head that fades after a minute or two. The aroma is piny with sweet caramel and hints of dough, though a slight whiff of something rubbery comes though as well. The flavor is pretty much just hops with an accompaniment of metallic notes. Hints of wood and a dry, grassy, semi-sour taste are also noted. The sweetness in this brew is quite subdued. This didn’t do it for me as a pale ale. I thought it tasted a bit unclean. I can’t tell if this was just a bad bottle because this is my first taste of the brew, but it doesn’t really seem infected either. Maybe if I can get it again from another source I will be able to really make a decision on my opinion on the beer. irishsnake (353), Oakland, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 11, 2007 pours a hazy gold/amber with an ok head that laces well. nose of familiar west coast hops - pine, some lemony citrus. cascade? flavor is very dry - a very light malt up front quickly washed away by a decent little hop kick. really easy to drink - probably perfect for the Atlanta weather. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 7, 2006 Bottle. Poured a hazy light amber with a tall off-white head. The aroma was hoppy with a fruit background. The flavor found lemon, fruits, and a hint of wood and roast as it warmed. Sweet beginning and a bitter end. Light to medium body.
