shp555 (1678), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 7, 2009 Pours a deep ruby brown color with a brown head. Aroma is roast, caramel, toast, and some earthy bitter hops. Flavor is malty, caramel, vanilla, toast, a hint of chocolate, roast, and a earthy bitter finish. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Feb 27, 2009 Pint on cask at J Clyde’s in Birmingham. Pours a wonderfully dark ruby with large fluffy tan head. Nose of hershey milk chocolate and some oaty quality. But the aroma is the last good thing about this beer. The flavor is initially repulsing, then a decent chocolate roast with some vanilla appears, but that is quickly overshadowed by the acrid fruity apple and fusel alcohol bite. Very low carbonation but creamy body with a lingering bitter roast finish. I tried to pawn it off on anyone else at the bar, a few guys took sips, but no one wanted to finish the pint. jrob21 (1252), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Feb 16, 2009 Cask at ACAT. Big vanilla flavors, almost like syrup. A hint of alcohol on the finish. Roasted malt flavor and slight cocoa texture. Hank1980 (734), Athens, Georgia, USA Feb 1, 2009 Cask, Atlanta Cask Ale Tasting. Pours dark brown with a tight beige head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt. Taste is very vanilla, some chocolate roastiness. Finish is very smooth. Body is full and creamy. Overall, an interesting very vanilla brew. Not unlike their Double Chocolate, very enjoyable, but not something I could drink too much of. pintocb (508), Darsville, Georgia, USA Feb 1, 2009 Very dark with an incredible sweet aroma. The flavor is a mix of chocolate and vanilla, which is to be expected. Quite smooth and complex. ChainGangGuy (2523), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Jan 31, 2009 Appearance: Black body with a small, light khaki-colored head.
Smell: Roasted oat aroma with pleasant notes of bittersweet chocolate and sharply-scented vanilla.
Taste: Sweetish blend of chocolate and vanilla with just a bit of oats and a nice roastiness that grows into an overall earthy quality. Light licorice midway. Very deep vanilla flavor as it warms. Drying finish with a lingering roastiness.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel.
Drinkability: Kudos to Atlanta Brewing Co. Overall, a rather tasty beer and a very nice expression of vanilla in a beer. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Jan 18, 2009

GAManiac (1123), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Dec 9, 2008 Cask at Taco Mac Metropolis into a pint glass.
Pours dark, dark brown with a large tan head that hangs around as an inch-thick cap throughout and leaves great lacing.
The aroma has lots of roasted malts and milk chocolate with hints of coffee and vanilla.
The roasted character moves more towarda burnt character in the taste with heavy toasted malts and some espresso. The chocolate is still present in the taste but the vanilla is much more prevalent and lingers through the finish.
The mouthfeel is very, very smooth and creamy as one would expect from the cask. The carbonation is strong and complements the smoothness of the feel.
I haven’t tried much Atlanta Brewing beers recently, but I can say without a doubt this is the best one I’ve ever had. I hope this is a step in the right direction for them and that they’ll keep playing around with some more interesting things. Recommended.
