| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 31, 2008 12oz bottle. I’m assuming this one is an ’03 since the photo matches my bottle vs. the picture in the ’04 (and I’ve had the ’04 label too). If they re-did the old lable on the newer bottle, just let me know! Poured a dark brown color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of roast, lots of oatiness, earthy, and a trace of coffee. Tastes of roast, oats, earthy, and chocolate. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 24, 2006 2002 bottle, courtesy of who else, but kp: Pours a transparent dark mahogany with a thin ring of tan head. Big smoky aroma has some roasted and chocolate maltiness and a hint of tart light fruit. Body starts with a touch of caramel malty sweetness turning more dry and ashy toward a bittersweet dark chocolate finish. Very drinkable and unique, almost like a smoked chocolate porter. This seems like it’s aged pretty well. Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Dec 16, 2003 TheDM and Hotstuff vacation brew 23. This draft brew was enjoyed at the brewery in Atlanta Georgia. I thought it neat that a group of local beer lovers had gathered together outside by a fire to talk and drink the beers. We got there late and had little time to sample, but we got a few in anyway. This draft brew was freshly made and only a week old. It poured a small head of brown colored mostly diminishing bubbles that left behind a good lace and a nearly opaque dark brown colored body with no visible carbonation. It had a mellow malty, coffee, brown malt aroma that I found very nice. The mouthfeel was tingly from start to finish and it had a mellow brown malt, mollasses and mild coffee flavor. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Dec 19, 2003 Draft at the Atlanta Brewing Co. A small sized tan head that contained fine-medium sized bubbles that quickly and completely dissipated. The body was carbonated and opaque with a brown-black hue. The nose was that of chocolate and coffee with a mild roasted coffee flavor. The mouthfeel was smooth and this was a medium bodied beer with excellent lacing.
