gunnfryd (3539), Kristiansand, Norway Sep 18, 2009 Bottle. Red brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, hop, coffee. Flavour is dry, roasted, malt, smoked, coffee, chocolate, hop, alcohol. Medium to full body, but also a nice beer. bitbucket (2025), Kirkland, Washington, USA Sep 2, 2009 Bottle. Pours hazy brown with a thin tan head. Raisin and nut aroma. Body is on the light side, and the beer is nearly still. Sweet plum, nut and bread taste. A dash of spice on the finish. yngwie (4880), Kristiansand, Norway Aug 30, 2009 Bottle, 12oz. It’s a dark, reddish brown beer with a big, diminishing, beige head. There’s alcohol, roasted malts, some malty sourness, and dried fruits in the aroma. Roasted flavor with some chocolate, slightly sourish, and with an alcohol warmth. Medium to full body, warming and dry mouthfeel. The finish has a roasted bitterness and a lasting alcohol warmth. A lovely beer enjoyed with strawberries, but a bit more warm than wished for. 090619 Cletus (5001), Connecticut, USA Jul 29, 2009 Pours copper/brown with a tan head. Smells of sweet malt, some spicy hints, dark fruit. Tastes sweet and sugary with a fruity finish. CheersMate1 (765), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jul 29, 2009 12 oz. out of a 4-pack from Greens on Buford Highway. I think they only had a 4-pack or two left of this stuff, but I could be wrong. I mean it is a few months old. Anyways, has that raisin dark fruit smell that you would typically find in a Belgian strong brew. Slight yeast, but you can also annoyingly smell the alcohol. Not overly pungent, but still a decent aroma. Nice dark beer with a thin head sitting on top. Good looking brew. Beer becomes more pungent as it warms. I guess I spoke to soon about it not being pungent. Nice dark fruit flavor. Lacks the yeast. Very fruity. Not incredibly smooth, or carbonated as you find with a lot of Belgians. The is slightly smooth, but again I am expecting the amped carbonation but it is just not there. The fruit taste/aroma is the best part of the beer. A decent attempt from Atlanta Brewing. ben4321 (949), Rockville, Maryland, USA May 11, 2009 Location: 12 oz bottle from Greens Discount Beverage - Atlanta (Buford Hwy), 5/11/09
Aroma: Interesting aroma, sweet, some dark fruits, banana, nutty, you could really smell the alcohol when I first pored it, but the it mixed more with time.
Appearance: Clearish brown color, almost no head
Flavor: Mostly sweet malts, similar to the nose, better after it’s been in the glass for a few minutes then right out of the fridge
Palate: Thinish body with a decent mouthfeel
Overall Impression:
I thought this one really improved as I drank it, and I’ve got a few more left from the pack, so I might have to re-evaluate later, but for now let’s say it was decent, but not spectacular douglas88 (1555), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA May 11, 2009 12 oz bottle thanks to unclemattie. Pours a ruby hue with a medium tan head. The aroma is nutty, caramel, sweet candy, some dark fruit. Very different. The flavor is pretty full; bananas, spices, caramel, nutty aspects, lots to like here. Not super hot, and a decent mouthfeel. An interesting brew. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA May 1, 2009 Pours a transparent dark copper mahogany with a thin, wispy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of sweet dark caramel and raisins with some light fruity esters and biscuits. Body starts with good fullness and a sweet caramel and toasty pale maltiness along with notes of doughy Belgian yeast before a drier, warming peppery finish. Could hide its alcohol and be a little smoother, but still a decent brew.
