[Tap] Sample notes from a brewpub visit in January 2009. Pours an amber color with a very thin head. Aroma of clove, sweet grains and caramel syrup. The taste is heavily syrupy. I get some dark fruits, cinnamon and lots of yeast. It also tastes like some candi sugar might have been added. Not bad, but the 7.4% alcohol is surprisingly recognizable because the balance seems a little off.

Tap at the brewery. Dark amber/copperish color with a solid white head. Sweet, slightly yeasty aroma. Flavor was sweet as well, toasty, ok.

Draft at The Old Fashioned, Madison. Filtered amber-brown color. Nice thin, lasting head. Mild figgy sweet malt aroma. Sweet malt thickness. No real hop character. Some fig additive really starts to shine through. Good, but I don’t think figs make up for Belgian yeast depth.

(Draught) Pours a dark brown body with a medium beige head. Aroma of brown sugar, toasted bread, caramel, and figs. Flavor of molasses, figs, raisins, toasted malt, Belgian yeast, and caramel.

GTMW 08 - Pours brown / bronze with a small head. The aroma has lots of figs and heavily toasted brown malt. Medium / thick body with semi-sharp carbonation. The flavor begins with very sharp fruits, sweet malt and a bit of diacetyl butteriness. The finish is on the medicinal side, but the good points still show through. This is okay, but could be a lot better in better condition.

Tap GTMW 2008 Aroma is cooked veggies, DMS. Taste is more DMS, some caramel malt and diacetyl. Wow, this was bad. I definitely need to re-visit this beer.

pour was a murky brown with a small tan head. Aroma has not of dark fruit and a strong candi sugar. Flavor was decent as well with some fig and a nice helping of candi sugar. Sme alcohol shows in this one but this is still a decent dubbel.

Beautiful cloudy body red. Strong aroma of spices and fruits. Similarly flavored body, with light spices.
